If you are doing it for visa, my understanding is that Thai bank needs to do it, so it shows as overseas funds

I am kiwi, but been living in Aus for 18 years. I just moved to Thailand last month. I just came on the 60 day visa free, then paid agent to do visa for me, if you get retirement visa from NZ you will have to buy insurance, as much as I believe you will need it, it can be purchased cheaper in Thailand.

You will both have to go through the same process.

Nothing to do with your visa, if you buy a cheap ticket, it is expensive to change, buy an expensive ticket, it is cheap to change, in my experience

send money in your native currency, and let your bank in Thailand do the conversion, then it will show as foreign transfer

on YouTube, there is a lawyer, think his name is Benjamin Hart, integrity legal, he his a US attorney practicing in Bangkok, he could be worth a try

I have a friend who lives in Thailand and races cars, he definitely imported a a mustang race car last year
