I’m Dutch. Been living abroad as expat for years. Get OOM verzekering , wonen in buitenland. Best expat insurance for Dutchies (don’t do axa as they don’t cover outpatient, OOM is the only one covers outpatient treatment too, like Dutch healthcare system we are used to.

Travel insurance doesn’t cover for long travel/ max 3 months usually. Read small prints.

Be ware you will loose about 2% of your AOW each year you’re de-registered as Dutch resident.

If things hit the ceiling, we as Dutch citizens are always able to register back living in NL, and all insurance company must accept us basic healthcare insurance: meaning longterm/ severe illnesses are covered till we die or heal. Even with pre existing conditions
