I've been here 12 years on a retirement visa and this year I did my first border run because I was waiting on a work visa and can't be on a retirement visa when applying for the Thai work visa. I went to Loa and on the way back was told the same get a visa or leave. But was also told if I fly out and back in it would be ok by the visa lady, but I see comments on here that they had problems too. I went and renewed my retirement visa.

your not making any sense, I've talked to visa places and lawyers, about visa, and all say 90 days tourist, or 1 year visa. You may want to use the same wording everyone in Thailand uses, so you're not making it confusing to New Tourists coming to Thailand. You're the only one I've heard talk or explain it like you do in the 12 years of dealing with my visas, and that includes visa agents, lawyers and government visa agents .

if you're going out, you can request for a reentry for your retirement visa, at the airport before you leave.

I went for 5 days by land and on my way back, they did not want to let me back in, but at the end of a long talk she gave me 1 month with no renewal. I was told to fly in and out if I wanted a 60 day visa. First time going out of Thailand by land and will not be doing that again.

I would call the embassy, Thailand is locked down at the moment, they may consider it high risk.

2 friends just flew out to England and the Airline wanted a test with in 72 hours to broad, and a exit paper from Thai immigration.

When I got mine, I had to have 2 copies of my passport signed my the embassy, and 2 copies of my place of residency signed by Thai immigration and retirement visa. I made 3 trips to the license place and they told me 1 thing at a time till I got everything done it was a nightmare. Call the license place and get clear information before going. I had 10 different information from friends and nobody was right, things change all the time, so do your own research or you will be making a lot of trips to the license office.
