Update. Just left my local IO in Kap Choeng with an official document confirming that I’ve registered the address of my partner as where I’m staying. We told them I arrived here yesterday after a few days in Bangkok so no fine paid.
Also. While here, I asked about an extension when my stamp runs out on 3rd Jan and they confirmed I could have a further 60 days on receipt of my sons birth certificate and ID card but to come before new year in case of holidays.
So all good! Thankyou to everyone for their advice and comments. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work Thailand Visa Advice!! 🙏🏼
Ok. I’ve been coming here annually for 15 years to visit my son and his mum and I’ve never heard of this requirement before. It’s never been an issue when I’ve received visa extensions….that may be because I’ve always declared their address on the TM6? I only arrived here last Tues evening so it’s definitely over the 24 hours now! Guess I should go and visit them this afternoon to avoid any problems further down the line! Thanks
apart from the online application form being incredibly clunky (something as simple as setting dates is a flippin nightmare!) it’s asking for letters of invitations, ID information of my son, birth certificate and his mothers ID etc. All doable with a bit more time. I’ve only just arrived back home after being away working for 3 months….next year I’ll give myself more time as this online visa application seems to be the future! Used to so easy nipping over to Hull and getting a 60 day visa in 20 minutes!?
thank you Stuart. 45 days is enough to get me settled back ‘home’ in Surin. My local Immigration Office in Kap Choeng know me well so I should be able to take it onwards from there 👍
that’s really great advice and makes total sense. Thankyou! Hopefully by September the consuls back in the U.K. will be open for business again and I can get a visa before I leave. Have no idea about the Covid test situation....unlikely to be offered on NHS but I’m sure there will be a private option available! Thanks again
I called the Consul back in the U.K. this afternoon and the answering machine said they were closed until further notice. Are you aware that little Britain is currently in full lockdown? Thanks for your comments but I am none the wiser 😁
the reason I want to come back and have been coming back for 13 years is I have a son that needs to see his Dad regularly Reiner! The 60 day tourist visa that I’ve always used to get from my country (the U.K.) is no longer an option as all the Thai Consuls are shut due to Covid. I can’t get married before I leave (see above) so there’s the dilemma! As far as I know you can not get a 60 day visa on arrival? Heard bad things about the new STV but maybe that is the way forward?
