Please note, I am not the OP but my husband is in a similar situation. I was just seeking clarification about Tod's earlier comment.

My question (as simply as I can) is: If the Non B extension process takes a month or more, is it possible to leave the country while the process is ongoing?

Hmmm ok.

So if I understand you correctly, if you are still WITHIN the 'admitted to stay' date and have a re-entry permit, you can leave the country and it won't affect the process of extending the SE non-B to a 1 year ME?
