Q:  If a baby overstays on a 30 day visa exemption stamp, are there any penalties? 

(I know it's OK for a child to overstay on a visa, but not sure about a 30 day stamp). Thanks

In Thailand, children under 15 years old cannot be penalized for overstaying, regardless of whether they are on a visa or a visa exemption stamp. If a baby overstays on a 30-day visa exempt stamp, there will be no fines or bans applied, but when leaving Thailand, the child's Thai birth certificate should be presented to Immigration. It's advised that parents apply for a dependent visa for the child when renewing their own visas.

- if she was born here she is fine. When you get her a passport and she leaves Thailand for the first time you show her Thai birth certificate at Immigration and they write in her passport and stamp her out of Thailand. There is no overstay. If she comes back to Thailand she either needs a visa or a visa exempt stamp. If she overstays then, she will get an overstay stamp in her passport but as

said, no fine or ban.

She was born here 2 months ago so doesn't have a passport or a visa yet. We will apply for her dependant visa next time I renew my Non B
