My question is ,

Can I change an initial non-b 3 month visa ( has never been extended) into a non-o ( based on marriage) ?

I originally entered on a 30 day exempt stamp.

Also would i be eligible to apply for a 60 day extension for visiting wife ? I already used that option once on the 30 day exempt but since changed to the non-b .

Thank you

I recently cancelled my ED visa, then went to Mae Sai to get an exempt stamp. In the meantime I've applied for Elite, but I only have a week left on my stamp.

If I were to go back to Mae Sai again, right after having been there, could that be an issue? It's very much back to back. The earlier trip was my one and only true land entry. (Aside from a land entry that was done on a re-entry permit with an ED visa in January, which I think doesn't count - I'm assuming the 2 rule only applies to exempt entries.)

Sorry for so many posts, im trying to figure out the easiest way to get time until the Elite comes.

Hi All

I am awaiting a job confirmation. Should this be successful:

My current exempt stamp (including my family's) expires on the 15th. If I get my Non B, what should I do for my family?

We have one land border bounce left which may be extended. That allows my family two months in The Kingdom. I am told that they can only transfer their stamp to a Non O Dependant Visa at immigration after three months of me having my Non B.

Should I rather ask immigration if they can make an exception to do the transfer sooner?

Thank you so much for your assistance🙏

Hi Folks, please offer your advice on our situation. We need to buy more time to find work here in Phuket. Been on 2 exempt stamps plus extensions already.

We are on South Africa passports and I also hold a Dutch passport.

Our plan next was either to get a year Edu visa until work came along...(but school is asking for 15000 baht each for paperwork(payable throughout the year)3000 for visa, 5000 at immigration every 3months...)

Or we go to Cambodia or somewhere else to apply for a 2month tourist visa pls extension which will give us 3 months to try find work.

If we go that route, which embassy do you recommend that asks for the least paperwork(as we don’t want to have to show flight tickets/accommodation/etc).

Thank you in advance for your advice and time.

Let's assume a 30-day extension on my exempt stamp is the way to go. I move into my condo rental beginning a 12 month lease on July 1st. But until then I will be in various Airbnb apartments and hotels. Should I wait until July 1st to be able to show the lease contract when I apply for a 30-day extension... I am guessing not because the 30-day extension migjt not require proof of residence.

So just to get the milestones and deadlines right for the multi month process of going from a 30-day exempt stamp extension to the goal of a converted 1 year extension for retirement over 50... I am thinking based on reading that I need to do the following.

I have lease for my condo signed on Saturday and my own passport with more than 6 months and the condo owners ID. I take that to Bangkok Bank at one of the branches mentioned in this group and open a Thai bank account. I transfer $25,000 us or 800,000 B from the u.s. to that Thai bank account so that it begins aging.

After that I go to immigration and get a 30-day extension on my exempt stamp witch expires July 9th. I am not sure which section of the Thai immigration Bangkok Bureau I go to for that.

I then wait X number of days... Not sure how many?... I make sure that I have the signed lease, the condo owners ID, the condo owners Blue Book and apply for a non-immigrant O 90-day Visa at section c 1 of the Bangkok immigration office.

Once I have the 90 day non o Visa, I wait until the bank deposit in the Thai Bank has been there at least 2 months and hopefully that would be 30 days before the 90-day Visa expires and then I would apply for a one-year extension conversion of that Visa.

Any thoughts on whether this is the correct approach and whether those timelines will work would be much appreciated.

Maybe useful info. Went through Phuket airport immigration today. Practically all the IOs were trainees and interestingly they all seemed to be women. The one I got completely overlooked my visa and gave me an exempt stamp. Using advice here, I fortunately looked at the stamp and the supervisor was able to correct on the spot no problem. Still found it a little interesting so much training prior to low season.

Is there a difference in arriving via land border on tourist visa vs exempt stamp? Am I limited to 2 total per year or 2 of each? How does that work?
