What should I do if I receive the wrong stamp at Phuket airport immigration?

Maybe useful info. Went through Phuket airport immigration today. Practically all the IOs were trainees and interestingly they all seemed to be women. The one I got completely overlooked my visa and gave me an exempt stamp. Using advice here, I fortunately looked at the stamp and the supervisor was able to correct on the spot no problem. Still found it a little interesting so much training prior to low season.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience at Phuket airport immigration, where they encountered mostly trainee immigration officers, all women, and received an exempt stamp instead of the correct visa stamp. Fortunately, they noticed the mistake immediately, and a supervisor was able to correct it on the spot. Other commenters contributed tips about the importance of noting the re-entry permit number and shared a story of someone who faced an overstay due to a similar mistake.

I’ve seen that mistake before and the person who got the exempt stamp didn’t realize until it was too late (overstay). He went to Samui immigration and they were the awesomest and still corrected the stamp and didn’t charge him for overstay. Lucky, I guess.

always write the re-entry permit number instead of the visa number on the arrival card ;)

Even write the word "reentry permit" on it too

OK understand that.

it's a totally different number than the one for your extension and queues them to look for the real date you're extension is stamped for.

Why write re-entry, curious ?

Did you write your visa number on the landing card?

Yeah...poor girl seemed a little clueless though. She couldn't possibly have processed all the relevant stamps in my passport by the time she just picked up the exempt stamper and went to town...:-\
