How can I prove the legitimacy of my bank statement for my visa application?

I applied at HCM embassy!

I submitted a 6-month bank statement that I obtained from the online banking system of a bank in my country. Now, they are asking me to prove that the bank statement is legitimate. How should I prove its legitimacy? Should I just write and submit a cover letter?

Do you also experience these kinds of requests? If so, what is the best way to handle thsi

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice on the appropriate way to address such a request effectively.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After applying for a Thai visa at the HCM embassy, the applicant submitted a bank statement but was asked to prove its legitimacy. Common recommendations include contacting the bank for certified statements, providing detailed explanations of income sources, and submitting a cover letter that outlines the documents provided. Experiences from others suggest that clarifying the embassy's specific request—whether for the verification of the statement itself or the source of funds—is crucial. Many have successfully navigated this requirement by obtaining official bank documents or highlighting certain income on statements, along with necessary letters of explanation.

They are not asking for verification of the statement. They are specifically asking for source of income, to match with the statement. This will show that the funds are legitimate. It could be things like, invoices which have been paid, salary income, transfer from savings (could provide the savings statement) etc etc

I applied in HCMC the same as yourself. 6 months bank statements printed off from my online UK account- All they asked me to do was to highlight on the statements which income was from my freelance work. Other than that, everything was fine.

I suggest you call your bank, and ask them to issue the same 6 months statement, and signed by your bank manager. They should do it for you if you explain why you need it.

Send an email to your bank. Asked them for a signed and stamped 6-months bank statements. They will send it to you in exchange for very small fees.

Depending on the bank, it can take between 1 to 3 days.

Anonymous participant 991 While I’m in the process of preparing the documents, is it possible that the embassy might cancel my application due to delays?
Dave ***********
Anonymous participant no, provided you submit all the required additional documents within 14 days from when you first submitted your application. After 14 days your application will be cancelled

Are you applying through Digital Nomad? Then you must provide proof of your income from your home country or from outside Thailand.

By looking at your screenshot, they are asking your source of funds in your account

Yon can mention and explain how you earn and get it with the evidence

I believe that they are not asking to prove the statement itself

I had a similar case. my transactions was an international transfer that came in as my salary, so I requested my bank to confirm that specifically for one transaction that prove it's come as legitimate income. I also included an explanation letter along with it.

Glad to hear that your visa got approved

CONGRATULATIONS!

May I know how many working days to get?

As for me, they’ve asked for a bunch of additional documents. I’m now preparing everything I can and will also make sure to write and submit a proper cover letter. Thanks so much for all the helpful advice you’ve given me!

You might want to clarify with the embassy whether or not they want the source of the funds being legitimate (how you got the money) or the statement itself.

well noted with thanks! should I write cover letter for that one or should i upload bank certificate ?
Wannikea *********
Anonymous participant I'd upload as genuine a bank certificate/account statement and funds source (income deposits?) as possible along with a very brief cover letter describing your document and noting the ambiguity of the initial request, and your willingness to supply further documents. Make sure your bank documents have the account number and name on them.

Some banks provide an option to have a certified statement download, as opposed to a general account statement. Contact your bank
