Hello all, Just received a new Non O-A from Los Angeles, American (over 50). They now require proof of income, or the lump sum $$ to qualify. The proof is ONLY accepted by Bank statements (showing sufficient income) for a Full Year!

(Just a heads up to any who will be headed there)

When I landed in Bangkok, at immigration, the IO seemed upset that the VISA was legit??

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has shared their experience obtaining a Non O-A visa in Los Angeles, mentioning the new requirement of providing a full year's bank statements as proof of income. This has raised questions within the community regarding the necessity and specifics of income proof for the visa. Comments reflect on the long-standing requirement of having either 800K baht or proof of 65K baht monthly income. The conversation includes congratulatory remarks for successfully entering Thailand before the deadline.

and on that note we're done. Thank you for the update (y)

Again glad you got the visa and got stamped in before the 31st.

Check to make sure you got stamped in for a full year ( it's actually a year minus two days because of leap year;) )..

Good Luck, enjoy your stay here :)

Glad you got the O-A visa (y) AND glad you made it into the country BEFORE the 31st of Oct because no one knows what's going to happen when people enter on them after that date..

Congrats

In Australia, proof of savings or income has always been required. I can't offer opinion on the US methodology, but it seems strange that previously they issued OAs with no proof of funding?

They NEVER issued O-A visas without proof of funding.

I believe 100% that the problem was showing the money being moved IN thailand versus showing the money dumping into in the US in a bank account every month.

Umm, AFAIK: they have ALWAYS required proof you have 800K baht or the equivalent OR proof of 65K baht or the equivalent a month in monthly income...

How do you know they require the proof of income?

What is the income level?

Is this for the visa or extension of stay?

I know because I just came form there, with a NEW VISA.

In my case (over 50 long stay Non Immigrant O-A Multiple entry)

(What many of us call a "retirement" VISA)

Monthly Qualifier is 65,000 Baht Minimum

I use a service called "Transfer Wise" to move the required amount into My Thai Bank.

I also gave them copies of the transfers as well as the Passbook Deposits (copies of my actual passbook from the Thailand Bank)

This was not about Extension of stay.
