Can I borrow money from a family member for the Thailand DTV workcation bank statement requirement?

Hi! I am applying for DTV workcation from the US.

I do not always have the $15,000USD in my account. I can have a family member send me a few $1000 to make my account balance reach that amount ( is this frowned on). However my bank statement would show that amount just reached my account. Can you just send the balance or are they being strict on needing to see all your transactions?

Also, I have a large amount in my IRA account, this is also my money. Does anyone know if they take that into account as well ?

I appreciate any clarity, feedback, suggestions on what worked for you 🙂

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the financial requirements for applying for the DTV workcation visa in Thailand, specifically whether it is acceptable to have a family member temporarily increase their account balance to meet the $15,000 requirement. They are also questioning if their IRA can be taken into account for the financial proof needed for the visa application. Commenters suggest that the IRA won't count and that different embassies have varying requirements for how long the money needs to be in the account before applying.

But if your working and earning you will have income, this you need to prove. The 500k needs to be in for between 1 and 6 months depending. If you extend base it on the fact you need to show this money still available.

Best bet would to keep at least that balance.

Your IRA won't count. The requirements for how long the money has to be in your bank account vary by embassy so research the one you plan to apply through
