Hello everyone,

I hope this post is okay here, even though it’s not directly about the DTV Visa. I’m seeking advice on investing in mutual funds or ETFs in Thailand as a DTV Visa holder. I have Krung Thai Bank account and I found some mutual funds there but it might need to open mutual funds account.

Are there others here in a similar situation? For context, I’m from Asian Country not from Europe or US just from Myanmar and currently living in Thailand. I’d like to know about the policies, tax implications, and options available for someone with my visa type.

I’m planning to invest a portion of my monthly income and would greatly appreciate any insights or experiences you can share or get some advice.

Thank you!

Destination Thailand Visa

Hi Everyone, Im currently applying for my DTV visa and was looking for some help if anyones in a similar case to me.

1. In regards to financial evidence, am I able to provide a invesment account statement?. I use wealthsimple and have monthly statements. I Have they money but its not liquid in my regular bank account as I invest it.

2. In regards to "Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status" I currently run a bunch of youtube channels and thats my job. Is there any other youtubers in here who have filled this out?

Youtube doesnt give contracts as we are essentially freelancers and are paid through Google adsense. However, I do have sponsorship contracts with companies. If anyone can help, I will love you forever.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

Regarding the 500,000 THB requirement for the DTV Visa. If the funds are currently spread across different investment accounts, would it be acceptable to transfer the money to a Monzo (UK bank) account prior to applying (2 weeks), even though the new account wouldn’t reflect the 6-month holding period? I can provide proof of the source and trace the transactions back to the original accounts where the funds have been held for over 6 months.

Has anyone experienced this, or know if this would meet the financial requirements for the visa?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

(Asking for a friend, I already got my DTV approved in HCMC)

Does anyone know if the 800,000 baht needed to meet the long term visa requirement needs to be a saving’s/checking account or can it be put into an investment account?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if the funds to be deposited for various visas (800,000 baht, etc.) must be placed in a Thai bank savings account? Or can they be invested in a Thai bank fund account (or savings plus funds)? I understand that the total holdings cannot fall below the minimum threshold (400,000 baht, etc.). TIA

Hi. I am returning to Thailand from Japan (UK citizen). I have the required money for a retirement visa, or a STV BUT...I had to transfer it out of my Japanese account (the visa requirement wants the statement in English) and into my Thai account so it has not been there for a full 3 months. Also...they are asking for an updated passbook which I cannot get from KBank until I get to Thailand. I also have money in my UK investment account that meets all requirements aside from the "updated pass book". All of this (e.g. UK investment account) has been fine when applying for Multi Entry visa from UK but this is my first time doing it from Japan and I need either an STV or retirement visa.

For a regular tourist visa, I'm fine financially, but they want employers info and statement of leave etc. but I am between jobs...which is why I am travelling back to Thailand.

I have everything else - the medical insurance as required, hotel ASQ booking etc. Aside from travelling to Tokyo to see what they say when they see my documentation (it will cost be a few hundred dollars for a round trip to Tokyo) does anyone have any advice about either demonstrating funds given the current situation, or applying for a regular tourist visa without a job. My experience has been that different embassies (I have used Glasgow, London, Hull, Penang, and Hong Kong) are very different in their flexibility with regards to things like whether I need an actual passbook, or statements from my investment account are acceptable. Glasgow and Hull are amazing!

My intention is ultimately to get a retirement visa, but I thought for now it would be easier to travel back on a tourist visa.

Thanks so much for any advice. I feel like I am going around in circles.

Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-A” (long stay). Do they accept an investment account statement for the financial requirement? The Washington DC Thai Embassy web site says Bank statement, so I'd like to know if they'll accept an investment account statement such as vanguard instead.
