What evidence of monthly income is acceptable when applying for a marriage visa. I cannot meet the 400k deposit but can comfortably meet the 40k monthly income. I was told by one of the immigration volunteers confirmation of income from the embassy was advised. I find that my embassy, UK, stopped providing such in 2019.

My income is from state and occupational pensions.

Does anyone have any advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a marriage visa in Thailand, acceptable evidence of monthly income must be documented through transfers made from abroad into a Thai bank account. The applicant must transfer a minimum of 40,000 baht each month for at least 12 months, ensuring the account is solely in the applicant's name. Since the UK embassy stopped providing affidavits of income in 2019, it's crucial to keep the evidence of these transactions clear and to account for exchange rate fluctuations. Some immigration offices may also require additional documentation from pension providers or restrict the income method to applicants who have maintained their account with a 400,000 baht deposit. It is essential to check with the specific immigration office for their requirements regarding proof of income.

In my familys case they are very strict with the 400 k statement for marriage and 800 k for retirement

Some offices require documentation from your pension provider, its best to check with your immigration office, also all payments should be recorded as international payments in your bank book

which immigration office, and what documents are required?

each office will vary, I do not know what all offices require. You need to check wit yours. My office Prachinburi is not keen on the "income" method.

A 12 month period of transfer may be needed. Also if you miss a month, say your pensions during the Xmas period give you Jan's money in Dec which means you will have missed a month Jan and have to start the 12 month period again. Also some immigration offices may only accept the 400k deposit for at least two or possibly three months. The bank account cannot be in joint names. Last point if you use one of the fast transfer methods such TransferWise the funds appear as coming internally from Bangkok so you will need extra paperwork proving the money came from abroad.

Thank you. I do intend to have my pensions paid directly into my Thailand account.

Note that you should consider transferring more than 40K to account for changes in exchange rates.

Being a brit means you can't use an "affidavit of income from abroad" notary document because that was stopped at the end of 2018 (actually Jan 1 2019).

SO if you're going to use monthly income and you don't legally work here with a work permit (which would let you use income from here as proof) you need to transfer in from abroad to a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht a month each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for a yearly extension based on marriage to a thai.

That's the only way you can use monthly income method being from the UK

Thanks for your help. I was hoping that statements from my pension provider would be acceptable.

Until I can travel back to the UK and settle my affairs there, mainly selling my house, I have too much in outgoings via direct debits in the UK. Therefore out of the 40k I would, for the time being, be sending almost half back to cover UK bills.

However, at least I know where I stand so thanks again for your help.
