TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the process of opening a savings account at KBank and other banks like Krungsri in Thailand, especially for foreigners without a work permit or insurance. While some users found KBank difficult to work with, others reported success with different branches or alternative banks such as Bangkok Bank and Krungsri. It's noted that various branches may have different policies, and it's suggested to try branches located in shopping malls or near international schools.

Krungsri are good but you won't get any interest on your savings unless you have a permanent residence in Thailand

Kbank and SCB will not open without a Work Permit. Krungsri I eventually was able to get to open but had to discuss with the Branch Manager to get it done.
I tried there with a 1 year extension based on Thai Wife. They said bank now requires to have valid work permit. Went to numerous branches that were mentioned as being Farang friendly and got the same response at all of them.
Might be worth trying if you already have an account. Otherwise I definitely recommend Krungsri. Have found them to be really great to deal with.

There is nothing in Thai law that prohibits a foreigner from opening a bank account- with or without a long term visa or work permit. That said each branch of each bank has its own rules and some won’t allow it yet some will. If one branch won’t allow it walk along to the next one. Try shopping mall branches, or ones close to an international school who are well used to people needing an account but have no long term visa.

I have heard that some banks in Thailand open a bank account with only a Tourist Visa and a 3 month rental agreement ...
