Thanks for accepting me to the group. I will plan an unexpected early retirement this year and then move to Thailand soon. Intital retirement visa to get into the kingdom should be no problem. As I recon I have to do a 1yr extension and re-entry permit once I have arrived in Bkk. The question is: which bank does the 800K THB have to be in? i heard it must be a government bank? They have branches at the CW Immi Office? (I already have an account with Kasikorn for many years)

You can have the money deposited in any of the main banks

It depends on the visa you're entering on. Are you entering on a 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50?

It has to be in any licensed bank in Thailand. If you have a bank account with Kasikorn, that would be accepted.

not yet; but i guess the money has to *sit* there for 2 months before i can make the extension?

That's correct. My advice would be, as soon as possible, to transfer the 800K THB to your Thai Bank Account, and let it season for two months. At the end of the two months, you should have 30 days remaining on your 90 day Non-O based on retirement, and you can apply for the one year extension of stay.

If you already have an account at Kashikorn, you can send the money anytime. You don't have to wait until you arrive in Thailand to make the transfer...
