Just got my Canadian passport renewed from Canada consulate in BKK and delivered to me in Chiang Rai. I have the previous, now cancelled passport. Do I need to go to immigration and get the new passport updated with current stamp?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to update your new Canadian passport with the current stamp at Thai immigration depends on your visa status. If you are in Thailand on a tourist visa with a free 60-day entry stamp, you can simply show both passports when departing. However, if you hold a long-term visa extension such as a Non-O, Non-B, or Non-ED, you need to take both passports to the immigration office where you received your extension to have the stamps transferred to your new passport.

totally depends on what your "current stamp" is ๐Ÿ˜•

if you're here as a tourist on a free stamp 60 day entry, just show both passports when you go to stamp out and leave the country.

Where as

if you're here on a long term extension (Non-O, Non-B, Non-ED, etc) you need to take both passports to the immigration office where you got your extension issued and have the stamps moved to the new passport.
