The option is clear. go back to your country and get a 6 month METV or go to one of the thai consulates in Australia that will issue a 6 month METV without proof of residence. The consulates that do it in Australia are the ONLY ones on this side of the world that waive the residency requirement to sell that visa AND it's not every consulate in Australia that do it only some of them. Perth is the closest one (about a 7 hour flight from here).

NONE. :/ You follow Roberts advice because you can only get a single entry tourist visa from any of the thai consulates in S/E Asia.
