Hello everyone I’m a Canadian Passport holder I was here on a 30 day Visa which I had planned to extend. I however am now in a huge emergency.i always keep my passport in my backpack I just noticed today that my backpack was cut and my passport has been stolen. My visa is expiring in 4 days. I’ve gone to the Canadian embassy to get a new passport they have given me the forms I need to get a new passport I also am going to the police station today to file a report. It will take 20 days to get a new passport which means I will have to overstay. I am in a panic about this. Is their anyway I can go to immigration with just a police letter and can extend my visa until my new passport arrives? I have no idea what to do here. I do not want to overstay and be fined or possibly even worse, I’m in the process of getting a non b visa to get a job here my paperwork and documents are being prepared. Any advice ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian passport holder is in a panic after their passport was stolen, leaving them with only four days until their visa expires. They have reported the theft to the police and are in the process of getting a new passport from the Canadian embassy. The user is seeking advice on how to avoid overstaying their visa while waiting for the new passport, with suggestions including obtaining a police report and applying for an emergency travel document to present to Thai immigration for a visa extension.

Thank you this seems like the best course of action to take. Thank you all for your help. Quite a crappy morning for me to find out this happened, this is going to be very costly 😩

You would have to go get a police report stating your passport was stolen, then you would have to get an emergency travel document from your consulate <- the one they issue on the spot or in a couple days, then you would go to the immigration office with the police report and the emergency travel document, they would look up your entry to the country, give you a new entry stamp and THEN you could get a 30 day extension

Also you would apply for a new passport at your consulate at the same time.

You WILL go on overstay if you don't do the steps as I mentioned them.

And Go to the next police station and get a stolen form !

Don't do an overstay , it could,be a problem for your visa B, do you have copies of your passport and visa , may be your hotel has it...with that go direct to immigration and ask what to do...I got my. Emergency passport in days from German embassy Bkk

Also call your local Thai immigration office for advice. You're definitely not the first person to be in this situation

immigration will not fool with him until he shows up there with a police report and either a new passport or an emergency travel document.

Canadian embassy should be able to inform you of the process you need to follow

My passport got wet and I had to change it. I think it took few days to get a temporary one ( white passport ). But it was expensive.

I think if you talk to the Canada embassy they have solution for you. This happened to a lot of people.
