In the future I want to renew my Canadian passport. If I have a valid visa in Thailand. How does it work? How do I transfer it to my new passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your Thai visa to your new Canadian passport, you need to get a letter from your embassy. Then, with both passports, visit your local immigration office in Thailand. They will transfer your visa and extension of stay details to your new passport. It's important to note that original visa stickers cannot be transferred, so you will need to carry both your old and new passports until the visa in your old passport expires.

I got a new Australian passport in January. Immigration in Chiang Mai moved the information over to my new passport showing how I had previously entered the country prior to getting my non O and the date that I entered (small stamp), the date that I applied for my Non O and it's past validity period (small stamp), the date I applied for my most recent 12 month extension and it's valid to date (small stamp) and another small stamp showing the date that my extension would finish. And two half page stamps ie the first one showing details of my old passport ie passport number and date of issue and date it was cancelled. The second half page stamp was a copy of my current 12 month extension including the date it was approved last year and the date it would finish this year. So effectively these stamps in total took up two pages of my new passport, but the process was quick and easy and did not require that I pay a fee or bring my old passport with me when I travelled in and out of the country in February

Seems to be the same as an Aussie passport.
Get the new passport, visit your friendly local immigration office and get all the relevant stuff transfered. Cost was 500 TBT in Udon thani.
Hey Mark. When they transferred the stamps did they transfer only your visa extension or older stamps

You get a letter from your Embassy and with that letter and both passport you visit the immigration Office and they will transfer the Extensions of Stay, Original visa stickers can not be transferred so as long as they are valid you use two passports
