If I renew my passport here in Bangkok, will my current TR visa still be valid?
Background: I hold a Canadian passport and live in Myanmar, now visiting bkk. My passport doesn't expire for another couple of years but it's running out of pages. I'm not looking to go back to Canada to get it renewed. If I renew it in Myanmar, the new passport will actually be made in bkk and mailed to Myanmar, so Im just thinking if I should renew it at the Canadian embassy in bkk since I'm here already.
TLDR : Answer Summary
If you renew your passport in Bangkok while holding a TR (Tourist) visa, your current visa should still be valid. You can show both the old and new passports to immigration when you exit Thailand. It's also mentioned that the Canadian government typically returns the old passport, allowing you to present it alongside your new one. If you intend to extend your stay with a 30-day extension after getting the new passport, it's recommended to have both passports available.
