Is an Employment Certificate for a Remote Job Enough for the Thai Embassy in Vientiane?

Hi everyone. I booked an appointment with the Vientiane’s Thai embassy for the first week of October. I’m currently in Thailand and will be travelling by plane to Udon Thani and then catch a bus to Vientiane.

I requested employment certificate and/or contract from my employer and today my employer sent me a document titled "Employment Certificate". It mentions my work position and that my work is entirely remote.

Is this document enough for the employment certificate/contract requirement? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether the 'Employment Certificate' provided by their employer, which states their remote work position, is sufficient for visa requirements at the Thai embassy in Vientiane. Responses indicated that while the certificate may suffice, it's advisable to also include documents such as the company's registration and financial proof, especially since some embassies have stringent requirements.

Yes, it's enough but always good to bring a copy of the company registration. 3 months of 500K parked in your account is required too.

Of your not sure and you can get it ask the to write you a company letterhead document giving you permission to work for the company remotely - ie “to whom it may concern”

xyx corporation give permission to Jimmie Blogs to work remotely from Thailand on behalf of the company for a period of 5 Years signed

your Boss.

And make sure to put it on a letterhead and be prepared to back it up with pay slips or proof of payment if asked as some embassies here have been reported they are asking for proof of work and doing that.

somehow paul has deleted my post or got it deleted and then repeated what i just said about him being no expert-Good for u buddy a bit too much time on your hands - trying to become a visa agent perhaps and make some

money off some people here? speak to facts and i stand by what i said and my motive unlike

your Paul is to help people here and return the favour back

thanks for the info. And yes that is the document my employer written for me. I will print a few payslips just in case they ask

If you have them, fine, but they won't need them. I'd say bring them along but don't volunteer them unless asked (which is unlikely).

They'll be far more interested in how long the funds have been parked in your account. 1 day less than 3 months and your visa could be denied and you'd have to make another appointment.

@Gobi ******
im sure you will be fine but good to be able to show these as you apply as it gives you more credibility

I've not heard of consulates in this region asking for pay slips. You only need 500,000 in your account and at Vientiane that means for 3 months.

reading through your questions on here your no expert i’d prefer to base what i know from people’s actually experience and factual happenings. Again if your contract is weak you will be asked to provide more info so better to have it if asked than not and risk loosing your application fee

And for the record, I'm basing what I state, on other people's experiences! I'm not doing this on the basis of opinion or conjecture. I'm asking consulates directly. I'm reading reports in here and other groups and even watching YT reviews on this. I don't have all the answers, as each consulate is different and the visas are new. So I'm obviously not Tod Daniels. However, I certainly know at least as much as you do and probably more.

Reading through your answers, you're no expert, just a fear mongerer. I never said consulates can't, or don't ask more questions. I'm saying there is NO requirement for additional pay slips. They're one option, they're not a requirement and that's all I ever claimed in this whole thread, but you decided to go around in circles so you could get the last word in.

read what i said you are certainly no expert here reading through your posts as i just said before

- every consulate appears to have non uniform requests and in my research before applying i’ve spoken with someone who was asked to provide more info over their work contract in this very scenario which is why i’ve said this and regardless IMO it’s best to be prepared especially if you can loose your application fee if you fall short- what consulate branch do you work for ?

@Simon *******
I've researched this extensively and can speak for the consulates in SE Asia at least. While each application is different, it says quite clearly on their websites what is required. None of the ones in SE Asia are interested in pay slips in addition to the deposit. They're just not and that's a good thing. Some people get paid intermittently and the whole thing could get messy. That's why they scrutinize the lump sum in your account and again, I agree with this.

Also, given that there's a soft power option where no employment is required, they can't possibly ask for pay slips, but rather, the lump sum.

he’s asking about working for a company remotely and how to be able to prove that it’s got nothing to do with the

0 on your bank account it’s got everything to do with being able to backup what your giving them as how your supporting yourself

@Simon *******
It's not needed for consulates in this region.

The 500,000 is what they want to see. You can show pay slips but they're definitely not asked for by any consulates except in some European countries.

The employment certificate or contract plus the 500,000 on your account AND in some cases, seasoned for as long as they ask for (3 months in Vientiane) are the basic requirements.

Maybe they require also the certificate of registration of your company. Check first with the Embassy.

Kindda obvious question but, does your remote job is from a non-Thai company located outside of Thailand? If so, no problem.
