Hey TVA,
Does anyone have recent experience with getting at SETV at the Yangon consulate?
My current visa exemption runs out next week and I’ve been thinking that it’d would be nice to head to Myanmar for a week or so, as I’ve yet to visit the country, and get a SETV while there.
Reading through the posts here, seems like I may be in a slightly precarious position.
Here’s my history:
First, I’m a USA passport holder.
This time I’ve been in Thailand since May 2019, so roughly 6 months, all on Visa Exemptions, and yes, I already used my two land crossings for the year.
I have the required funds, proof of onward travel (I head back to Brasil in mid-December), and hotel booking already prepared.
From July 2018 – mid Feb 2019, I spent off and on about 5.5 months in Thailand, but interspersed throughout, with a few longer trips to Vietnam and a visit to the USA.
From Feb 2019 – beginning of May 2019, I was in Brasil, then back here to Thailand.
I’m aware there is no legal limit for the number of tourist visas and visa-exemptions through the airport, but as someone else posted, there’s not much of an option for long-term tourists.
I enjoy spending about half my year here and would like to continue doing so.
I’m not old enough for the Retirement visa and don’t stay long enough for an ED visa. I’ve been eyeballing the Elite visa but haven’t made the jump yet.
Is there a safe way to continue coming on Visa exemptions and SETV’s or am I risking eventual denial?
Would Yangon be a good place to apply for a SETV this time around? Or is there a better option? I’m not interested in just doing a quick visa run to an embassy, I’d rather visit someplace new I haven’t been before.
If I’m eventually denied it’s not a big deal, but I’d prefer it not to happen.
