Just a short update on the 6 month Multiple Entry visa. I recently applied for this visa for the 3rd time in three years. It is perhaps not as neccessary/useful as it used to be as you can now receive a 60 day visa waiver on arrival and it seems that you can most likely enter and stay this way several times a year without incurring the £150 visa charge. However, as a frequent visitor, I like the certainty and, as I also like to country hop not just stay in Thailand, this visa suits my needs for now.
Previously they required six months of bank statements and there were lots of odd requirements such as submitting an invitation letter, the i.d. of a Thai National, and a photo of you holding your passport.
Now it is much more straight forward; passport details, picture, proof of country of residence, flights, hotel booking and then simply pay the fee. Applied Monday night, visa approved Thursday night.
I am a UK national.
Seems like Thailand is pushing tourism hard again, as well as wanting to attract wealthier and active long term residents.
I have a question on the DTV visa: do you need to be in your country of residence when applying or can you be in your nationality/passport/birth country.
I’m a UK National but with residency in the UAE. I’m planning to come to thailand in sept for probably longer than 3 months and was thinking the DTV would be a great option.
I’m currently in the UK and when I go to apply for the DTV it says I can apply online on the basis my *current location* is in the UK. My concern is they view my current location as my residency which is not the case.
If I apply through the UAE I have to apply in person at the consulate and then have my passport taken away etc etc which seems a lot more hectic. My plan was to leave the UK in sept, stop by in the UAE for a few days and then come to thailand until roughly around Christmas and if I like it (which I hope I will) return after NYE.
Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before but couldn’t find specifically.
Im a UK national and currently in Phuket.
Entered Phuket 7 weeks ago on a 30 day visa, and also already have the 30 day visa extension from Phuket immigration office which runs out on 25th March. I'd prefer to stay in Phuket right now than return to the mad paranoia that seems to have infected London right now!
I had been planning on doing a ‘visa run’ to KL/Penang to get a new 30 day visa but today’s Malayaia announcement makes that a no go.
I saw the below but don’t know it’s validity or if it’s up to date as was written on 3rd March.
My 73 yr. old mum has just obtained her first retirement visa by using 800k in Thai savings account.
She doesn't really want to leave 800k just sitting in the bank and when it comes to her renewal, she'd rather do a combination of lets say 400k in the savings account and monthly pension transfers of xx into Thailand.
The agent that we used to do her visa said that for UK citizens, we have to choose between 800k in the bank or 65k pension coming in every month. They said due to the UK embassy won't issue the income letter, that it's not possible to do a combination of both... it's one or the other.
Can anybody elaborate on this or do any UK nationals have any experience of using a combination and if yes, how was it done.
Hi all, I’m going to be flying into Bkk at the end of August and a few days later flying internally from utp to Chiangmai - I’ll be on a visa on arrival - will I have any issues or should I apply for a multi tourist visa?
