TLDR : Answer Summary
Returning to the UK from Thailand involves several steps. As a UK national, you can choose to directly fly into Heathrow to quarantine at home if Thailand is not on the red list. If traveling into a Scottish airport, hotel quarantine may be necessary. Tests must be booked in advance, with costs around £250 for day 2 and 8 tests, and a negative COVID test is required 72 hours prior to departure. Additionally, a passenger locator form must be filled out 48 hours before your return.

Covid test up to 72 hours before you return and fill out a passenger locator form up to 48 hours before you return.

I would fly direct Bangkok to Heathrow or if you want a stop and maybe cheaper flight go via Helsinki or Amsterdam...avoid the middle east...once landed in England catch train or coach to Scotland and then do your 10 days quarantine which can be cut to 5 days if you have a test which proves negative after 5 days..

tests are actually 2nd day and 8th day now. If 2nd day test negative then you can leave house after 5 days if no symptoms still have to take 8th day test. Kit ordered online and sent to home.

cba looking there - why do you think I’m asking you guys?

If you take an international flight into a Scottish airport you will need to hotel quarantine. The easier way is to fly into an English airport and make your way to home in Scotland from there and then self isolate at home - and also will need to do the day 2&8 home tests.

Am I correct in saying if I take the Thai airways direct flight to Heathrow, I won’t have to quarantine in a hotel because Thailand is not on the red list, and I haven’t passed through any country that is.
Steve **********
Good luck.

Thankful for not on red list country.
Stuart *********
@Spencer ******
yes. As long as Thailand is not on the red list you can quarantine at home. You still need to pay the £250 for tests before you travel.
Dave ***********
@Spencer ******
that’s correct.
Stuart *********
You also have to pay £250 (upfront) for the two tests that are required. Check the Uk government website for specific requirements as they seem to change quickly

£250 for blood test. Extortion.

Where to these parasites come from during health events.

They are like looters in LA.

Not 100% sure on rules England V Scotland, but for England it depends how you travel there. Via Singapore quarantine can be done at your home. Via somewhere like Dubai you need to quarantine in a approved hotel.
Baron *********
are there no direct flights at all from Thai now on Eva or Thai?

@Stuart ********
your band on I'm going to uk from nz and paying the extra to do Singapore airlines one stop at Singapore so I dont have to pay the £200 10 day self isolation package,well long as the green light caper comes of.

@Richard ************
for England, its 10 day home quarantine ( unless its changed recently) you'll need covid test before travel, plus prepaid covid tests from a UK govt approved private firm for day 2 and 8. They cost about £120 each.
Stuart *********
@Lynnette ******
it changed recently that if you travel from/via a country on the “red list” you must quarantine at an approved hotel. Currently Singapore and Thailand aren’t on that list. Many Middle Eastern ones are.
Lynnette *******
@Stuart ********
yes, red list countries. Non red list its still home quarantine? Or did that change?
Stuart *********
@Lynnette ******
no not changed if not on red list. home quarantine (with 2 tests)
Stuart *********
@Richard ************
sorry but I don’t follow your meaning on this one.
Mark ********
Good question. I'm thinking stopping off somewhere else for a couple of weeks to avoid quarantine.
