Marriage license: I’m a Uk national and I want to marry my Thai girlfriend. The steps as far as I understand:

1) Book an appointment for the marriage

2) book appointment with Uk embassy; get certificate from Uk Bkk embassy that I’m free to marry

3) get translated

4) get married

My question is in the case of a past divorce in Germany, does it need to be translated into english and then also into Thai?

My second question is: is there any way to avoid going to Bkk for the certificate and thus avoid 2 week quarantine?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national looking to marry a Thai girlfriend needs to follow several steps, including booking an appointment for marriage and obtaining a certificate from the UK embassy confirming eligibility to marry. The divorce papers from Germany must be translated into both English and Thai. Additionally, there are options to minimize travel to Bangkok to obtain the certificate, such as local village offices handling the marriage or enlisting help from local services to streamline the process. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, potential complications like red zones and closed Amphurs may arise.

Did all that in BKK just in case there was a problem (embassy etc close by). The translator we used helped us out with the marriage for a few extra bucks. Hassle free. But I get that this is not a great option atm. Local Amphur can do it but sometimes a bit more mucking around. You have what you need but I would get the divorce papers done to be sure.

Good luck with it all and congrats on getting married.

Cheers

Just a heads up, Bkk is currently a red zone and Amphurs are closed for foreigner marriages.

Go ask in the municipality what they normally request. Heard different versions. For me it was just some donation to the local temple...
