TLDR : Answer Summary
A Russian individual was denied a tourist visa at the Savannakhet embassy, which raised questions within the community about possible reasons for the cancellation. It was noted that this embassy can be particularly strict, especially if the applicant has a history of visa exemptions or tourist visas. Concerns regarding required documentation, such as proof of funds and onward travel, were also discussed in the comments.

Did they have proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent) in a bank account & proof of onward travel in 60 days?

Savannakhet is NOT an easy consulate to get a tourist visa from IF you have an extensive history of visa exempt or tourist visas in your passport.

The good news is Russians get in to Thailand by land with NO limits on the number of 30 day entries per year.

What was the reason why? Did they give any reason why they issued a visa and stamped it 'Void without prejudice"?
