Can I apply for a DTV visa online from the UK and what are the requirements for proof of residency and funds?

Hi everyone!

This question is specifically for UK DTV visa holders, as it seems every embassy has its own set of rules.

This is my second attempt to get a DTV visa 😊 (my first try was in Penang this August). I’m currently in Thailand, and due to work, I’ll likely be flying to the UK in the next few days. I have a couple of questions:

1. Can I apply for the DTV visa online through the London embassy within the first or second day after my return to the UK?

1. For proof of residency, I have UK bank statements (personal account), a UK driving license (although it shows an old address), and *settled status* for living in the UK. Will this be an issue?

1. My main concern is proof of funds. My funds are in a WISE business account under my US-based company, where I’m the sole owner. This led to my rejection in Penang, as the account wasn’t in my personal name. How is this handled in the UK? As a freelancer, it’s common to use a business account, and with an LLC, the funds aren’t directly in my name. Despite providing proof of ownership, it wasn’t sufficient in Penang.

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a Thailand DTV visa as a UK holder. They specifically question the timeline for online application after returning to the UK, whether their proof of residency (including bank statements and a driving license) is sufficient, and how their business account impacts their proof of funds. Responses suggest applying as soon as back in the UK and indicate that the acceptance of funds from a non-personal account like WISE may depend on consulate discretion.

2 points.

Wise is not a bank so whether or not the consulate will accept that or not will be up to them.

The funds should be in your name. I wonder if you should look at your US company being your sponsor

1 - yep apply online as soon as you hit the ground

2 - should work

3 - that's gonna be between you and the consulate and no one here is probably gonna have that answer..

It is doubtful you lost your application money in Penang and instead were just not allowed to apply. Unfortunately on the eVisa system you pay right as you apply.

They can ask for more documentation if there are questions

BUT

just so you know if you get rejected online thru the eVisa system and you're going to lose the application fee. 😕

Tod Daniels, I was simply looking to hear from other applicants, but it’s fine. It seems this is your personal forum where only you’re allowed to respond. Interesting...

Just to clarify, I never mentioned paying anything in Penang—only that I wasted time and money on hotels, etc. I did NOT pay any fees there. This will be my last post here, as I prefer open forums where respectful questions receive answers from a variety of people, not just one person who decides what is acceptable. Thanks and good luck.

meant no disrespect, just wanted to point out you didn't lose the 1,600 MYR for a DTV when you tried in Penang..

I tried to answer the questions you asked.

AND

I left the topic open so others could weigh in..

Dunno what got you so wound up 😕 but by all means feel free to 'invite yourself to leave' and sincerely good luck in your visa endeavors (y)

and now I will close the commenting 🙂

Rob Schueps proof once again that people wearing panties in a knot is still a thing.

Rob Schueps Wow. You’re obviously an arrogant prick.

When someone answers you most people would be grateful. Tod’s advice as always was relevant to your question.

I’m not a UK applicant, so my answer may not suit your entitled needs, but why would any embassy or consulate accept funds from a Wise business account. It’s YOU that’s applying for the visa. The fact that your business interest may have millions of dollars in it is irrelevant. They want to see what funds YOU have.

Showing a current balance of a business account is irrelevant to the consulate. They have no idea if the company is solvent or not. The funds in that account aren’t yours - even if you are the sole owner - until you take them out.

Rob Schueps he’s the most knowledgeable and helpful guy here.

You’re being rude and foolish to respond like that - he just took the time to give you all the correct info.

(I’m a fellow uk applicant with a us llc by the way and have nothing to add to what Todd wrote - other than - I would move that money to your personal account for the sake of the application)
