What should I do after being denied entry into Thailand with a tourist visa, and can I apply for a different type of visa?

Hello all,

I am in need of help/advice. I was just rejected at DMK trying to enter with a 60 day tourist visa, I'm still in holding cell. Even though I had proof of cash in excess of 20,000 b and a flight out of Thailand to KUL, I was told that because I had entered Thailand four times already and stayed approx 120 days in the first half of the year, I could not return. I was out of Thailand for two months in the USA, my home country, and China before attempting to return. I'm still not 100% sure the exact reasoning of why I was denied, except that I got a hard line IO. My question is, does a tourist visa rejection deny someone from getting another type of visa, say ED, volunteer, or spousal dependent and entering Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user was denied entry into Thailand while holding a valid 60-day tourist visa due to their previous stays in the country. Despite having sufficient funds and a flight out, they were not allowed to enter because of an immigration officer's strict stance on repeated visits. The community advises that the tourist visa in their passport remains valid as they were denied entry but suggests options for re-entering the country, like traveling to a neighboring country and re-entering by land. There's also a reminder that certain work or study activities may require a different type of visa.

Follow my advice, see if you can go to a nearby country, enter by land on the unused tourist visa you have in your passport.

We are done. Good Luck,

Good luck if they have seen your Facebook wall.

good point :O NOTE 2 the O/P; IF you're teaching at The Knowledge (a school here in Bangkok) you shouldn't be ON a tourist visa you should be on a Non-B visa with a work permit

Now where you go back to 100% depends on what carrier you used to fly you in to the country.

Some let you go back to where you flew in from, some let you go anywhere they fly to, and some make you go back to country of passport origin.

It's totally up to the carrier NOT the thai immigration staff here. They don't care where you go.

I would say see if you can go to a nearby country (preferably one that borders thailand like Malaysia) and then enter by land. You won't have any problem entering by land at all on that tourist visa .

you will get a stamp inside your passport with the reason of denied entry, you will be sent to another country. From there, sort out the reason of being denied and you can make your way back into Thailand. These are the numbers of the reasons used in the stamp:

okay, let's sort out what happened.

You were DENIED ENTRY only, the tourist visa in your passport is still valid because in order for it to be used you have to ENTER the country (get stamped in) you were not allowed in.
