TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses challenges faced by a Thai friend trying to obtain a USA tourist visa after a previous denial. Comments suggest that proving strong ties to Thailand, such as employment, property ownership, and family connections, is crucial for visa approval. Many guest users share personal experiences implying that applying for a K1 fiancé visa might be a more feasible option, while others highlight the difficulties that arise after an initial denial. The importance of proper application and documentation is emphasized to improve chances for future attempts.

Ask the experts in a group fokused on visa to US.

This group is experts on visa to Thailand.

Not easy to get a travel visa from USA embassy in Bangkok...K-1 fiancee visa works, but is lots of work and time.
Aaron *******
The kiss of death is to say she has an American boyfriend. Absent that, she needs to be reasonably well off, with a very good job, own a house, own a business... Even then, they will probably be suspicious of a young lady visiting the USA alone.

If you don’t have a high profile job or own a lot of property here, and just a regular Thai person, you’ll probably get denied. I went through that with my then-girlfriend back in 2017. Had to bring her to US on a K1 fiancé visa as her tourist visa was denied. Too many Thais not coming back after the visa ends. That’s why. Been happily married 7 years now and living in Thailand.

Friend has to prove they have reasons to return to Thailand

Almost all Thai people that go never return ( especially women)
Paul *******
Take photos of you together outside hotels. Get phots of you with here family. Plus make the case for why she’ll return home

yes in black and white have to prove intent to return
Ivan *********
Not worth it just tell her you will visit her in Thailand. She's not missing much in the USA

What a clown

That’s why the world’s people try so hard

Just a hater and obviously not too bright

the US has a lot to offer. You’d have to have some hard feelings to say otherwise.

@Bradley *********
been to the USA some beautiful places but Thailand or USA its got to be Thailand for me .
Bruce *********
@Ivan ********
That's only because it's substantially cheaper for you to live in Thailand. I think for most people if the cost of everything was the same in Thailand as it is in the United States that people would much rather live in the United States. Take away the sex tourism of Thailand and I think a lot of people would stop going there.

I love Thailand and I love living here but if the cost were the same as the United States I will 100% stay in the United States

@Bradley *********
True. It’s just unfortunate that there are so many Americans in that beautiful country. 🤣

She is missing a lot depending on where you are going. Who doesn't want to see las Vegas or Disneyland if they have never been? Taking a trip on the Pacific Coast Highway. So much to do in the states. The way you felt your first time in Thailand may have been magical and that is what she would feel going to the US for the first time.
Amy *****
Your best bet is to provide employment or do a finance visa (K1).

My other half is here just now in the UK.

We didn't use an agency, just did it ourselves
Peter **********
@Tommy *******
The Uk and USA are different country’s with different rules. How does this help at all.
Tommy ********
@Peter *********
it helps if you read what I posted.

No need for an agency.

Follow the guidelines.on the passport application.and guess what?

You get a visa.

I don't think it's relevant to point out that different counntries have different visas it's just stating the obvious.

Also stating the obvious is that if the application is filled in properly you will get a visa.

Simple as that.

UK is a lot easier the US and Schengen area

What
@Bra****
mentioned is unfortunately true. Same with most EU countries. It is a sad truth. And it is hard to explain to Thai friends or family that you care for - being that they are such a hospitable and welcoming country.
John *******
Once denied, it gets even harder. Be sure you can address any of the reasons why denied before applying again. Does the friend have property (land, car, etc.) or family (husband/wife, children)? A job in Thailand? The embassy wants evidence that they will leave USA and return to Thailand when the visa expires.
Brandon ************
There have been many posts about this in the group, so you can search and look for more information there.

You need to determine if your friend will even qualify to travel to the USA. They need to prove that they have a settled life in Thailand that they will return to. Long-term job, own property, have family, history of international travel, etc. If they cannot show this, there's not much that can be done to get them a visa. They simply cannot prove they have enough reason to return to Thailand to satisfy the consular officers.
Peter **********
@Brandon ***********
It’s the same for Netherlands though they are slightly easier in their judgement than the USA.
Will *********
@Brandon ***********
Exactly! - the main thing is to give the US authorities confidence that they will leave and go home - if you don't have that mindset, you will encounter problems.

a long history of international travel is a very strong component, yes. I suspect the biggest single factor.

If you marry her its easier than a partner relationship

Took me nine months - K1

@Phil *****
No! Not easy at all!!

My Thai wife and I are married for over 3 years, and went through an ordeal!

Finally, next month, her interview at Embassy in Bangkok.

@Georg **********
I know and changed my comment. Its only 1 of many criteria looked at

@Phil *****
if you are engaged and have some pics a k1 visa is easy enough…

married mate for 8 years and an Aussie so K1 Visa doesn't apply. USA, UK & AUSTRALIA all make it incredibly difficult for Thais to ener even on a holiday. Yep its easier but still a hard slog. My wife has been to Aussie 6 or 7 times now and longest stay was 9 months.
Frank **********
@Phil *****
no not easy at all.

yes one of many criteria considrred

that's not necessarily true I actually came back and married my wife this year after failing last year didn't make any difference In fact we have given up after the third attempt I compiled so much evidence the file was 4-inch thick with hundreds of photos, of the wedding of a relationship the 3 visits the business we set up, the money to support her in the UK and her own money they still denied her saying that they think she would not return. they don't even read the applications anymore If they had they would have known I needed my wife because I've had a serious heart attack, they also denied her because they said she had nothing to return for? No dependence yet in her affidavits she states she had her businesses and her little brother because she has no parents So she looked after him because he has special needs they say you can't appeal? when I put my complaint in that this person denying us a (Mr Sheffield) I don't think he even read the case notes but I tried to complain against him UK embassy says I can't do it because it's an overseas application the embassy overseas says I can't do it because the contact details I've given is in the UK so it's a catch 22 So if a dying man can't get his wife by his side then nothing seems to work anymore they just take your money and give nothing back the UK government but some people are believing lots of other nationality governments are just getting as restrictive As much as Thailand government are being great and have opened it up for longer times , if it's not returned in kindness by their home country prices of the flights going up People will stop going
Phil ******
@Paul ************
agree. Our immigration all think Asians will stay. In Australia Indians seem to get an easy run. Maybe its their Commonwealth country that makes it easy
Paul ********
@Paul ************
hi I was told a few years ago when I was going for my second visa for my girlfriend that the British Embassy was sending a majority of visa applications to India to be assessed and that the individuals get 15 minutes to assess validity of a persons visa. Paul King visa had one guys application sent back saying no proof of cohabitation. In fact he had been on several holidays with his partner. Gave proof of flights and accommodation. My visa had only 8 photos of us together and she obviously had a child and farther depending on her. Maybe if you were to not put so much information in the file.

Paul Kings thought is to much information is not needed.Maybe it’s changed now. 🙏
