Sorry this is a longer post — I’d really appreciate any insight or advice ❤️
I recently applied for the Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) from Germany (my passport country), and unfortunately, my application was just rejected. I’m still trying to understand what exactly went wrong.
Here’s what I submitted:
* Proof of funds (over 500,000 THB)
* Invoices from freelance clients over the past 12 months
* My personal Spanish tax return (I was living in Spain until recently)
* Proof of current location in Germany (short-term rental contract)
* A company tax return from a Spanish business I closed in March 2025
I’m currently not registered anywhere, as I’ve been full-time nomadic since March — and was just temporarily in Germany when I applied.
A few days after submitting, they asked me to:
* Provide proof of registration in Germany (which I don’t have - I explained it to them and it seemed ok - so I think)
* Legalize all documents related to any foreign company through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai embassy in the issuing country (in my case, Spain)
Since my company was already closed and I wasn’t in Spain anymore, I explained that and asked them to disregard the company tax documents and instead focus only on my personal Spanish tax return.
Still, my visa was rejected — no reason given.
What’s confusing is that a friend of mine (Spanish citizen) applied from Vietnam, had no company, and got approved in just two days — no extra documents requested.
So I’m left wondering:
* Has anyone here successfully applied from a country that’s not their own passport country (like Vietnam)?
* Do they always require legalised foreign tax documents? (If so, what exactly? Just the tax return? Company registration too?)
* Would submitting only my personal tax return be enough?
* I recently opened a U.S. LLC to handle invoicing — will this create the same legalization problem if I use it in a new application?
* Do they expect you to be officially registered somewhere? Or is that flexible for nomads?
I really put a lot of time and effort into this application — so I’m feeling discouraged. I had hoped to spend 6–7 months a year in Thailand, and this rejection feels like a setback I didn’t expect.
If anyone here has been through something similar or knows how to navigate this better, I’d be so grateful for your advice. 🙏
I applied for DTV 3 days ago, they requested extra documents this morning. I uploaded the new documents but they requested new ones. I have a question about one of the items.
The one you provided is not a pay slip. Please provide pay slips for the past six months that show detail the amount of tax deducted from your salary, as well as any overtime, bonuses, or other deductions.
I'm working for an American company, and I get my salary in my bank account directly and pay my taxes in my country. Taxes are not deducted from my monthly income, as I am technically exporting services. They are calculated at the end of the year based on that year's income. So I don't have a slip like that, what should I send them for this item? I already shared my contract with the company, the company's business registration, and monthly transactions from the company to my personal bank account.
Just submitted to Los Angeles Consulate and I was trying to add my tax documents (CA state income + federal) along with my bank statement but even after compressing many times the files were still way too big (if I kept compressing it the quality would be awful) so I submitted the application only with bank statement without the tax documents.
Can I submit them separately or just have to wait until they request it?
Will this delay my application if they ask for them later or should I be ok without them? My flight out date is Jan 12 so I'm hoping it won't push it back or delay too far from now.
Edit - after submitting the documents they ask for, I received email that you DTv Reject.
Hi , I applied DTV at Ho Chi Minh on 24 Nov, ( remote worker) on 27 Nov they requested tax returns, I submitted it. Yesterday I got rejected. Any suggestion please .
Need Help with Tax Documents from Vietnam and Thailand for U.S. State Tax Filing
Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a tricky situation and could really use some advice. I was working in Vietnam and Thailand for a number of years but, as a U.S. citizen, I’ve recently been informed that I still need to file state taxes back home. However, I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly what documents I need to obtain from the overseas countries I've worked in and how to submit them properly to the U.S. state tax office.
The state where I'm registered as a resident isn’t providing much help—they keep sending me links to sections of a PDF without actually answering my questions. Has anyone been through this before and could offer some guidance on the steps I need to follow? Specifically, what documents should I get from Vietnam and Thailand, and how do I ensure they are acceptable for U.S. tax filings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Thai Spouse Extension - Working in Thailand (CW Immigration)
Please advise and point to latest actual information about this method (Working in Thailand). I never use this extension reason before, but wish to try. I assume there is some papers from company and also last year tax form (91) must be presented.
Which documents?
Salary slips?
Is the tax form must me stamped in Revenue Department or electronic one is enough?
I want to apply for dependent visa for my mother as I am working here as a teacher. When I applied for the same at the Immigration ,the officer asked me for the detailed tax papers, as whatever Tax papers I had was not enough for the application... Now the problem is ,the school cannot provide me the detailed one... Not enough time for applying as Coming Monday is the last day for application .
