Renewing extension for 'support thai wife', using the 400k in the bank account method. However, I also work in Thailand.

Is it normal for them to require all the financial documents from my school - tax returns, withholding tax receipts, etc... As well as my bank account documents?

I've never needed all that before - previously the just asked for a copy of my work permit, a letter from the school, and copy of my bank statement showing salary going in

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing a visa extension based on marriage to a Thai spouse, especially using the 400k bank account method, it is common for immigration to require a variety of financial documents. This can include tax returns, withholding receipts, and bank account statements, particularly if you also earn a salary in Thailand. While prior processes might have been simpler, increased document requests reflect the varying requirements across different immigration offices.

I have an extension to stay based on marriage and a work permit. Immigration wanted to see all of the tax records and employment documents as well as all the documents pertaining to an application for the aforementioned extension. So yes, I’d say that is normal. *Samui Immigration.

Just curious; what immigration office are you using?

interestingly, she wasn't at all interested in the bank statements showing my salary going in, and gave those back. She only wanted the ones showing the 400k sitting in my savings account

chiang mai. I used the 400k method and gave her all the required paperwork as I have done for the past few years. She asked if I was working, and I said yes, and gave her the copy of my work permit and letter from work, with bank statements showing the salary going in, as I have been asked to before. She turned around and checked with someone behind her before telling ne that if I'm working then I would also need the tax documents etc. From my school. This is the part I've neve been asked for before, didn't have prepared, and got sent on a wild goose chase to the revenue department where they told me that only an official from my school was authorised to get them.

You give them what they ask for

At the bottom of the application form it says immigration may ask for additional information. I guess that means give them what they ask for.

NO you don't

There are 3 different ways to provide the proof for the financial requirements. As i read your question you mix them all three into one question. It is OR banked money, OR monthly income from abroad OR monthly income inside Thailand.

Robert Lagas monthly income inside Thailand btw
Markus **********
Robert Lagas how much do the monthly income need to be? Any minimum?

Why would you get these documents? If you meet the requirement of 2 months prior application date of 400.000 Thb in a Thai bank account on your name it is enough. This with the letters from your bank

I tried only using the 'money in account' way, but then she asked if I work too and asked for the other documents on top. I checked the form she filled in with my application - she only checked 'ngern fak nai tanakan' box but wanted the rest, too. I guess she's making sure I have been doing anything naughty... But it's a massive pain in the 🐴 especially seeing as I'm not even authorised to get half of the documents they requested from the financial department and need to go back with a POA form
