Why was my visa extension in Phuket dated from September 15 instead of September 26?

I went to Phuket immigration today to get an extension for visiting Thai family. As advised by many sources I went early to avoid congestion on the 26th September. 

They gave me 60 days from 15th September and not 26th.

ATTENTION MEMBERS:

ALL Immigration offices in the country will be closed on Friday Sept 4th AND Monday Sept 7th.

Plan accordingly :) 

AND 

TWENTY ONE shopping days left until Christmas :O
