I had my DTV approved from Laos Vientiane Embassy under workation category. If you are going to apply yours at the same place and have any questions, I'm happy to help out šŸ˜Š

Hi everyone, i want to apply for DTV visa and im looking for muay thai classes that could provide relevant documents to support the application. Iā€™d also like to ask, do i still need documents from employer to prove that im working remotely or 500 000 in my bank account is enough? Thank you!šŸ˜Š

Hello everyone.

This has probably been asked a few times before, so apologies for any repetition (I did try to have a look through the group)!

My wife and I are going to be applying for the DTV from the UK soon.

We are both Product Managers and have full time jobs/contracts but we are leaving our current roles and are planning to go freelance with nothing lined up just yet.

Just as additional info: My current role (that I am leaving) is a full time contract. I work remotely but my contract does have my 'official' base as London. I am allowed to work remotely abroad for a certain amount of time a year.

For the portfolio - has anyone had experience just using an adapted CV? Has this proved an issue at all when applying for the visa?

Additionally - are we better off applying for the Visa as a couple or applying separately? Or does it make no difference?

Thanks!

Following up on my previous post regarding DTV visa application- I am on week 4 of waiting.

They have responded and asked to provide proof of funds once again, as cert. of deposit or bank statement for the past 3 months. I've supplied them twice with brokerage statements , which show the required amount for the required period of time.

Has anyone else showed brokerage statements? Were they accepted?

Do I maybe need to provide a letter from the brokerage confirming I have liquid assets?

Also, if anyone is self-employed and had to provide an employment contract: did you specifically state that all of the work is remote?

I've submitted a certificate of employment (for my own company) and they require me to re-submit with statement of remote work.

I want to make sure I do it correctly this time, would be super helpful to hear from someone who is in the same position and had been accepted.

Thank you kindly!

DTV approved via HCMC consulate. No questions asked.

Workcation category: provided 1. Fintech bank statement, 2. contractor agreement, 3. letter from client confirming the remote work agreement, 4. client company's business registration.

Both me and my gf(different nationalities) got the visa with those 4 docs each, and no questions or extra bureaucracy like other embassies. We came to HCMC for a visa run + eat some banh mi.

I'm not sharing the visa photo - it looks exactly like the Vientiane sticker with HCMC instead. Visa valid til 2029 beyond passport validity. Questions are welcome but if I don't answer you, that means it's already answered in other posts. Just search in-group with keywords.

Digital nomads, rejoice. Pick the easier embassy if your closest one is being difficult.

Maybe a good idea to hold your horses on the DTV a little longer!

The underlying basics of the DTV have been officially established: ā€œItā€™s a multiple entry visa. On each entry you get a stamp for 180 days. Leave and come back and you get another 180 days.ā€ That is a game changer and almost sounds too good and open to be true. Links to detailed group posts on this linked below. Easy enough.

But there are some details we do not know, yet. These missing details relate to how different consulates will handle details not clearly regulated in the published law. Things like: What documents and uploads will count as sufficient proof to meet the requirements for obtaining the DTV in the first place. A few, exemplary open questions:

* What kind of financial proof documents?

* How many bank statements / dating how many months back?

* What would a sponsorship of financial funds look like and what would need to be submitted in that case?

* What kind of documents to be handed in to qualify for the remote worker category?

* What kind of documents to be handed in to qualify for a ā€œThai Soft Powerā€ category?

* What activities qualify exactly as Thai Soft Power?

* Is there a certain minimum length of booked and confirmed Thai Soft Power activities we would need to proof?

Open questions like these and more will all be for the respective Thai consulate in your individual jurisdiction to be decided and communicated. And from how I know Thailand over the years, different consulates will have quite different detailed requirements for this. So, these questions cannot be answered in general. You need to either check with the particular Thai consulate responsible for you (their website or contact them), or wait for group reports on people having gone through these exact consulates on the same DTV track you are looking at. But these open questions will be answered and can be matched, then, in due time.

!!!!!!

But, and maybe a big BUT: There is a third area with big question marks, still. Maybe an area many people have not even thought about. And that pertains to the questions of what proof might need to be required once holding the DTV and now planning to either re-enter on it or to extend it locally with immigration. We simply donā€™t know what the exact requirements will be at that stage. Might be that simply showing your visa is fine to getting it extended or being stamped back in. But it might also be, that immigration officers either at extension at local immigration or when trying to cross back into Thailand will ask for proof that the original conditions are still met. Remember, the DTV is bound to the underlying conditions that you either have remote work or that you participate in a recreational Thai Soft Power activity AND that you can demonstrate sufficient funds of at least 500k THB. One could argue, that these conditions do not only pertain to the single time when you apply for the DTV visa, but would need to be met for the duration and every new entry.

Now this could well mean, that at extension or re-entering with the DTV, that you would have to demonstrate that you are still meeting those requirements at that time. In other words, you could face a situation where you would have to prove again that you are still holding the funds (500k THB) in your name, that you are still having remote work, or (and that would potentially ā€œsuckā€ the most for some) that you are still enrolled (or again) in a Thai Soft Power course. Donā€™t take for granted that doing a dayā€™s cooking class will ā€œguaranteeā€ you 5-year of easy entries. Maybe here lies one of the catches. Thoughts?
