I'm a videographer hoping to apply for the DTV visa as a freelancer. Would links to recent examples of my work on Vimeo cover me for my portfolio? Thinking of including these links in a cover letter. That explains my professional set up, along with some recent invoices for one off clients and contracts for a couple of upcoming events I've booked in. All of which are outside of Thailand. Does this sound like it will meet the criteria? Have any other videographers or content creators been able to get the DTV yet?

Hi ! DTV questions

I am Freelance and I have 3 activities (Website Social media and content creator)

I have clients but all contracts have not started yet and aren’t paid yet, so I do not have any tax receipts from france (only one from last July before I started my ED-Visa)

For the documents to justify I’m digital nomad. I plan to do this :

- All my clients and previous employers will write me a recommendation letter

- freelance contract with amount they will pay (each months with starting date)

- portfolio with some website I made and blog/video content

- official registration of my freelance status in France

- I have the 500k of course

Would it be ok? I will email them but I prefer gather a maximum of info before emailing them.

As I currently have ED Visa I’m not supposed to work so maybe I should explain that in my letter as why all contracts start after my Ed visa ends

Also, is there any template for freelance contract they need or I can just use my Google sheet template as long as my name and clients name signature is there

I plan to apply to Laos or any close country

Thanks for your help

Hi all,

my DTV was approved in one time here in the Netherlands. Actually it was very easy. I have my own web & app development company. I did some research, collected all the info here on FB and created an outline/cover letter. Maybe it can help others who like to apply.

Explanation for Financial Evidence

To whom it may concern,

I am submitting my financial evidence as part of my application for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

Since my business account holds the necessary funds, I am providing the following documents to establish my financial capacity:

1. Business Bank Statements: Recent bank statements from my business account showing a balance of no less than 500,000 THB.

1. Chamber of Commerce Extract: An official extract from the Chamber of Commerce that includes my name and the details of my business.

The Chamber of Commerce extract is included to link my name to the business account, thereby confirming that I am the owner of the account with sufficient funds.

I hope this clarifies the relationship between my personal identity and the business account used for financial evidence.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

[Your name & business details]

Proof of Freelance Work and Professional Status

To whom it may concern,

I am providing the following documents to demonstrate my status as a freelancer and the ongoing projects I am currently working on as part of my application for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV):

1. Business Registration Document: An extract from the Chamber of Commerce that includes my name and business details, confirming my status as a self-employed professional.

1. Professional Portfolio: A detailed portfolio showcasing my work, which can be accessed through my website: yourwebsitehere.eu. This portfolio includes descriptions of my services and completed projects.

1. Project Proposals and Contracts: Copies of 3 project proposals and contracts for current projects, which include the project details, client names, and my name.

1. Client Confirmation Emails: Emails from clients confirming that they have hired me for specific projects. These 3 emails outline the project details and agreements made.

1. Invoices and Payment Receipts: 3 recent invoices and 3 payment receipts for completed work, verifying my freelance activities and income.

These documents collectively demonstrate my professional activities and my capacity to work remotely.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

[Your name & business details]

Does anyone have any examples of the employer letters you use for DTV....especially people that are going to be doing freelance for their own company?

DTV application at the Royal Thai Consulate in Hong Kong 🇭🇰

Swedish passport, applied as freelance worker/digital nomad (Content copywriter/Translator).

Process took 5 business days (10 days total):

Applied on July 27th, got it approved on August 3rd.

💰 Cost: 300 HKD (around 14300 baht at time of application)

☑️ Step 1, application:

I left Thailand and flew to Hong Kong. Sent my application literally as soon as I got to Hong Kong.

I sent them a work contract from one of my clients, showing that I am employed as a freelancer, and that the position is fully remote. The contract clearly listed the contact information to my client. No info about salary in the contract.

Also uploaded a detailed bank statement, showing all activity in my account from February 1st to July 27th. The balance never went below 500,000 THB during that time.

For proof of location I sent them a photo of my entry slip, that I got when I entered Hong Kong.

☑️ Step 2, request for more documents:

On July 31st, I got an email from the consulate where they asked me to upload a "CV with details including education, employment history and Portfolio" and "Full bank statement(s) with applicant’s name showing secure/stable liquid financial asset with ‘latest 6-month’ account activity details".

So I added a few pages to my current CV where I showed screenshots of my work, both in the original word/excel-files and screenshots of my work published on the clients websites. I included links to every published website I was showing in my portfolio. I also added a page with a cover letter for the consulate, explaining my situation, that I have multiple clients but that the client I sent a contract from, pays me enough to support my ife in Thailand. I also told them that none of my clients are in Thailand and how much my average salary is per month.

I uploaded a bank statement for the same account as earlier, but changed the dates to 31/1 - 31/7 (since they asked for exactly 6 months).

☑️ Step 3, visa approved:

I got the visa in the evening of August 3rd, around 20:00. The consulate closes at 17:00, but I guess the visa is made and sent out through systems that run automatically even after the consulate closes.

I emailed them twice during the process asking for a status update as I had a booked flight on 31/7, but didn't get a reply. So I just waited and booked a new flight after I got my visa.

Landed in BKK today, and got my first 180 day stamp 🥳

Hope this helps some of you! 👌

Also, the HK consulate website says that only residents can apply there. I emailed them beforehand and asked about this and they said I could apply, even though I'm not a resident.

Got my DTV from Royal Thai embassy in London. Very quick process! My learning points were a letter describing your freelance work with examples of work and 23/24 tax return .. I initially sent 22/23 as 23/24 isn’t due with uk govt until end January so had to quickly complete it!

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the DTV Visa. I'm working currently as a freelancer. I'm teaching languages, and other specific subjects through a platform. I work also remotely for a Korean company based in Seoul.

Can I apply for a DTV visa ? ( All the other requirements are ok on my side, proof of funds etc... ) If yes in which Thai royal embassy should I apply for it ? The one in my country where I'm staying right now (my home country) or should I go to Korea? Sorry if it sounds logical to you but I'm a bit confused.

I just wanted to know your opinion please and if you have any advice.

Thank you 🙏

Hi, I am looking for more info from people who managed to get a DTV as a freelance by applying in person in Laos at the Vientiane Thai embassy.

Looking at https://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/page/destination-thailand-visa-dtv?menu=66949d200066d37e98695dc3

They mentioned:

Copies of agency/school/institution/company documents must be signed by an authorized person and stamped with the agency/school/institution/company seal.**

I am between contracts now and spent the last 6months learning Thai on an ED visa (not working currently but did remote IT work before). I am planning to switch from ED to DTV when my ED visa ends in early 2025.

So I am wondering what would the embassy consider a valid proof of freelance work/portfolio.

Also do they differentiate between a DTV for freelance online worker and a DTV for someone who booked a 2hour cooking class in Bangkok?
