TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about applying for a Non-Immigrant O Visa in Thailand based on a confirmed monthly pension of 65,000 THB while currently on a Tourist Visa. Responses highlighted the need to check with local immigration offices regarding acceptable proof of income, as some may require 800,000 THB in a bank account for initial applications before allowing a switch to income-based qualifications after a year. Additional advice included consulting local regulations and being aware of country-specific consulate requirements for income verification.
correct, either or. If changing to monthly, then first year would be both.

A generic list of how to go about getting a Non-O in country

Unless you come from a country whose consulate here still issues the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter you cannot use monthly income from abroad as means to meet the proof of funds for an initial Non-O visa or the first year extension from one ๐
so it sounds like you have two hoops to jump through. The first one being your countries requirements and then after that, you have to meet Thailand requirements.
It's what your country's embassy here will do as far as issuing that affidavit of income from abroad notary letter.
If they won't do it, in order to get the in country Non-O visa and year extension you have to use the 800K banked money method for the first year.
Then you transfer in 65k baht a month from abroad into your thai bank account, each month, every month for the next 12 months so you can switch from banked money to monthly income when you apply for the following yearly extension
iโm coming from the US and I donโt know if Iโll have the lump sum by then. I do have the monthly income for months. I can get statement from Social Security/retirement funds. I guess US is probably one of the countries that will not issue a notary letter?
you need the 800k in a Thai bank in your name from abroad for your first non-o and 1 year extension then if brought in for 12 consecutive months as a foreign transfer you can use that on the second extension
nope that won't work at all. you're going to need to do banked money method because US, UK, Australia all stopped the affidavit of income from abroad notary letters at the end of 2018 beginning of 2019
I guess I have no choice than to come to Thailand for the 60 days, and get my Thai bank account set up. If I donโt have the entire lump sum at first, then I guess Iโll have to apply for an education visa. Probably should take a Thai language class anyway.
a lot of times a Thai bank accounts not easy to get when you get here but if you need help with that reach out to me and I can run down for you exactly what I did to get a Bangkok Bank account on a tourist visa
I have Thai friends that will help me open a bank account. They told me not to go to Bangkok bank. Thank you for your offer though. Also I plan to get an international drivers license from AAA before I leave America.
you are correct, the US bassy doesn't issue the affidavit so you will need the 800k for the first year extension.

Check with your local office if they will accept your 65k income for the initial Non-O, I think a lot of them make you use 800k for the first visa and extension, and then after 12 months of payments allow you to change to monthly income.
