Hello all,

I am turning 50 soon and looking at the non immigrant O visa. I have a military retirement pension that exceeds the 65k baht a month requirement, but afaict this option is no longer available to Americans due to a policy change at the US embassy in Bangkok about 5 years ago. Is that correct or am I missing something?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about qualifying for a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand using a military retirement pension, referencing potential restrictions for Americans due to past policy changes at the US embassy. Comments clarify that while the initial visa application cannot use monthly income as proof, it can be used for extensions next year if enough funds are transferred to Thailand.

sadly you could not use monthly income to get the initial 90 day Non-O or the first year extension after that at the immigration office.

You would have to use banked money method of 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only

You COULD use that monthly income for the subsequent year extension the following year, by transferring in to the country a minimum of 65k baht a month, each month, every month for the next 12 months and using monthly income method next year
