Hello,

I discover this group today. Very good for newbie like me 😊

I stay in Thailand now since 10 days, 3 months visa. I got a non-immigrant O visa, single entry, (E-visa) because I am married to a Thai woman. But I want to apply to a 1 year visa.

On my confirmation visa email nothing is written at "visa conditions"

On my passport under the red stamp Non-O it is manually written "F-Visa"

So some questions :

1 - Can I get a retirement visa if I arrived with this visa ? I am 63.

If not, is there another solution?

2 - Is there a real difference between married visa or retirement visa except the 400k/800k ? We were married in France so I think that I don't have all the documents to prove our marriage here in Thailand.

3 - My retirement pension is more than 800k/12 months so maybe the first year it is not necessary to ask for marriage visa and so I will have time to get all documents for next year ?

4 - But the first time must we get 800 K on the account ? Or how can we prove the amount of our retirement pension ?

Then the years after just prove that we receive money from abroad every month (it must really be every month or the addition at the end of the year must be > 800K)

5 - Some people say that we also must pay an expensive health insurance, some people say that we don't. What is the truth?

6 - Some friends told me to apply through a visa agency but I don't want to have problems one day at the border when I will come back to Thailand in case of this is not a perfect visa.

And also it is very expensive. If I'm not wrong, the visa alone costs 1900 THB.

7 - I read somewhere that I cannot ask anything until 60 days of presence in Thailand. True ? Because my flight return, if necessary, is the 14th of April and it is not possible to change it.

So if no visa I must flight back on 14th of April. 😭

Will I get enough time to get one ?

I know that it is a lot of questions but worry a lot !!

Some yes or no answers could be enough for some questions 😊

(Maybe it is important to say that my adress is in Pattaya because it seems that some immigration office are more requiring.)

Thanks for help me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking advice on transitioning from a Non-Immigrant O visa to a longer-term visa in Thailand raised several questions regarding retirement and marriage visas. They inquired about the possibility of obtaining a retirement visa at age 63, the implications of their 'F-Visa' stamp, and differences in paperwork requirements between the two visa types. Additional concerns included financial proofs required for the visa, the necessity of health insurance, the application timeline, and whether they would be able to apply for an extension while still in the country. The community responded by clarifying that retirement visa applications require specific paperwork, and it is best to consult directly with the immigration office for detailed requirements and processes. They advised on financial documentation options and the timeline for extending stays.

Thanks for uploading the Pattaya version of the requirements for the Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age. Good luck with the application and always prepared to answer any question.

Per month method is minimum

baht each month. Can not be a bit less some months because you have a bit more other months.

If you did the
*****
0 baht deposit method, then you can use this deposit for all the coming years without worrying about the monthly deposits. (there are specific rules on when and how much your bank account can or can not go under the
*****
0 baht - be careful and I'd advise a dedicated account for this deposit.)

OR you can do a combination of the 2 methods : for instance
*****
per month and a

0 deposit.

Try for the letter from your embassy stating you make at least 65k a month. If the French embassy gives them. The US embassy used to. We just raised our right hand and said we earn the 65k and it was issued automatically. Beats tying up 800,000k for 5 months every year and never allowed to fall below 400,000k ever.

If you go later today, bring your passport and show the stamps when you ask the hand out with requirements, then you know directly what is possible

If there is "F-visa" written under entry stamp does this stand for family? Does that mean first extension must be for family?

I thought about this and I think I've read that from a family non-O 3 months visa we couldn't get a "retirement" visa extension..?

@Bernard ****
I concur with Benjamin now I've seen your other posts. It's an E not an F. Nothing stopping you applying for an extension based on retirement apart from meeting the other requirements

Will tell you. I'm waiting at the immigration office now. Lot of people but not too much 😊

@Bernard ****
the first extension has always to be for the purpose the visa was issued for. Saying that I'm a bit confused by the fact you say there's nothing on the e-visa yet your entry stamp was marked F-visa

7. You can apply for an Extension of Stay during the last 45 days of your current stay. You will not loose days by going early as the extension is added on your current stay.

Do not wait until the last day to avoid problems if you might not have all documents correctly.

Thanks a lot for all these VERY QUICK answers. Very very kind 😊😊 I will go to immigration office this afternoon. But maybe with the Covid we must make an appointment on Internet website?

To renew my driving licences I must wait until the 8th of February. 😁

They will tell you when you visit
Robert *******
5 and 6. Do not believe what some people say.

Best is to visit yourself the Immigration Office and ask for the hand out with the latest requirements.
Robert *******
3 and 4, you can use the income affidavit from the French Embassy in Bangkok, stating your income is more than 65.000 thb a month
Robert *******
1. It is not a retirement visa, even when it is named like that by many foreigners and some Immigration Officers/

You need to apply for an Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age, this to provide mis communication

2. The difference is more paperwork, your marriage certificate must be legalized by authorities before you can use it

@Robert ******
Extension of stay can be multi-entry to flight back sometimes to France?
Robert *******
@Bernard ****
Once the 1 Year Extension is stamped in the passport, you can apply for the Multiple Re-Entry permit to travel during that year.

@Robert ******
Thanks. I didn't know it was like this. Thought that all had to be asked together

@Bernard ****
Your SEPERATE re-entry permit can be single or multiple.

The single is 1000 baht, the multiple is a "as many times as you want" for 3800 baht.

You can apply and get the re-entry on the same day you do the 1 year extension (right after you get the extension) to save time and running. Or if you don't have any clear plans yet, wait to apply until you're sure about your flight out of Thailand.

You can also apply at the airport the day you leave - which I have never done because don't want the added stress, but good to know it exists as an emergency option.

Patient please It take some time to all questions
