If that visa is a valid multiple entry visa, you can leave Thailand and return for a new stamp.

But this is not the same as extension of stay

Toby Willis, no. It's an extension of stay you do inside Thailand, before your stay from the visa expires. It's not a visa

is Extension of Stay when at the end of first year, you go out of thailand and get stamped in for another year? Or is it when you do the whole visa process again, at the end of 2nd year? TIA
