With a multiple entry tourist visa, you can stay in Thailand for a total of up to 270 days by optimizing your entries and extensions. Each entry allows for a 60-day stay, which can be extended for an additional 30 days by applying at an immigration office. To achieve the maximum duration, you can re-enter Thailand before your visa's 6-month validity expires, repeating this process.
you don't get it do you Bill ? What is your experience of thai visas ? Do you live in Thailand ? Have you ever had or wanted a multi entry tourist visa ? Did you read any other comments before you replied incorrectly ? As that would have shown you that what you think is wrong, and maybe stopped you replying incorrectly or even at all. Even when I have told you that you are wrong, and what the correct answer is, AND where you can go to see why/how this is the correct answer, and that you are wrong, you still tell me to 'look on the document'. It is clearly not that simple. I don't even need to look at the document to know and to tell you the maximum possible time in country, and how to achieve it. Perhaps not an area of expertise for you. If your going to offer answers, at least go where directed to learn the correct answer. 👍

Some people on here havn’t a clue. 1st off the visa must be used before 6th september. Upon entry before that date you get 60 days. If you want to stay longer you will have to apply for a 30 day extention at any immigration office. After that you only have 1 choice and that is to do a border run where you will get another 30 days but you can only do this two times. In total you can stay for 5 months. After this you must leave Thailand. That is the plain truth. It might be different for other country’s but he has a uk visa.

Love how everyone tells the OP how stupid he is and asks if he can read. Do people not realize that in Thailand everything has to be double checked twice? It’s not obvious that you can extend by 30 days each time to get a 60 + 30 (you can). And it’s not obvious that you can come in again the day before the visa expires to get another 60 + 30 (you can).
When I got this visa and called immigration to make sure I understood how it worked, two people gave me the wrong information before I got the right information.
Additionally, they usually prefer that you fly in rather than come in by land. When I came in by land the second time, they made me book a flight out after 60 days, which complicated things because I really get 90 days each time (if they make you book a flight out they don’t take rhe +30 into account)
only theoretically you can reach 90 + 89 + 89. It's safe to say you can't realistically get more than 8 months 3 weeks, because you don't usually teleport to Thailand right when you receive the visa in your mailbox. You first look for an upcoming flight within the next few days, or if you just the one you already booked you have buffered some time in between. You also lose days that double count when you exit and re-enter.
Actually the theoretical maximum is 269 days but then you need to do like 90 + 89 + 1 + 89 but that is so silly that no one would.
I know, technic- and theoretically you can get 270 days, but practically that’s not the way it would be. But as an illustration of the benefits of an METV it’s a way to explain it.
the theoretical maximum is 269. You have to return on day 180 of the visa validity, which then double counts as it is also day 1 of your last admittance.
Potentially, you have to align your planets to the day , I agree with Andrew ( hence why my original answer had no smart arse remark ) I used to use this Visa around 10 years ago , it was a pain in the arse frankly , and I used to Fly out of HH to KL ( it had that flight then ) and spend 3 - 5 days ..
They did not like the land crossing , which had been my intention , even back then .
The visa was issued on March 11. It’s validity for use for an unlimited number of entries (“multiple entry”) expires on September 6
The 6 months visa validity starts on March 11. So if you enter Thailand on March 20, you lose 9 days of visa validity.
Upon each entry, you will get stamped in for a 60 days stay permit
On each and every 60 days stay permit you can apply for a 30-days extension of the stay permit, for 1900.- THB, on Immigration.
If you take the 30 days extension, you must be aware that before the 90th day expires, you need to exit Thailand.
With the next entry, you will activate another 60 days stay permit
Which you also can extend for 30 more days.
To get the maximum number of days out of this visa, you should therefore enter Thailand as close as you can, to the date of issue
If you exit and re-enter Thailand before midnight of September 6 (or any day before this date) you will get stamped in for 60 daysfor the last time.
You can then still get a 30 days extension of this last 60-days stay permit, and it will take you to theoretically almost 9 months of stay in Thailand

6 months. Don't listen to anyone else. And certainly don't read what it says on the document next to "Length of stay in Thailand"
wrong. Don't listen to this. 6 months is the validity of visa. The correct answer is 270 days if used to its full potential. See how on other replies. "Don't listen to anyone else" 🤣.

So far I have not seen anybody else post the correct answer with explanation here.
Your multi-entry Visa allows you unlimited entries with a max duration of 60 days each for a period of 6 months from your first use of it. As long as you go into the immigration office before that 60 days ends you are capable of extending each stay by another 30 days.
Additionally, and each calendar year, most western countries are allowed three fly-in 30 day automatic entries, and two walk in 30 day automatic entries. Each of those can also be extended by 30 days if you go into the immigration office before they end.
Your multi-entry pass will allow you (with optimum utilization) 9 months, and if you choose to use your automatic entries, you might be able to wiggle another 14 months if you time it right in the calendar. (The auto entries apply in any calendar year and renew each year)

Unfortunately there's conflicting information. I'm posting the link to my claims source of information below.
Different sources have different information though and some sources support your claim... Including Wikipedia. I'm going to give on this one as it seems most likely that you are correct.
your answer is also not correct. There are no limits to flying in visa exempt. The only visa exempt limit is 2 times per calendar year at a land border.
Scott **************
I appreciate your input/correction.
I don't have time to check and update my comment now. I'll return in the near future with citations to either confirm what you are saying or continue the discussion. 🙂
respect about bringing citations. I have had it clearly explained to me a couple times that The number is 3, however, once you gave citations I double checked and your info is correct. And about to go and edit any comments I made with incorrect information.
you are welcome Scott. That is why we all are here and communicate .
And honestly said: the Thai visa system is a jungle. I myself repeatedly misunderstand this or that regulation .
As you can experience here how many times the same issue is asked and when I see the answers then I sometimes see many variations of answers. That shows how complicated and messy the Thailand visa system is.

Unfortunately, that answer is incorrect. This is a multi-entry visa which allows three utilizations of a base of 60 days. All entries (as long as they have not yet expired) are capable of being extended an additional 30 days.
(I am leaving incorrect information here so that readers can see how I was corrected below)
do we really need to specifically ask about possibility of extensions ? Or should that be included in the answer? Question is "how long(maximum)". Question is not "how long does it say on this piece of paper". I would think any question on any visa invites the possibility of extension in the answer.
Validity of visa and Period of stay: Multiple - Entry Tourist Visa is valid for entering Thailand within 6 months from the date of issuance. The holder may enter Thailand again as long as the visa is still valid. The period of stay is up to 60 days per trip.

I do worry about some of the posts we get on here. It says 60 Days. So unless i've gone completely mad, that means the Visa is valid for 60 Days.
Multi-use allows unlimited entry for 6 months with each entry being a maximum of 60 days by default.
Considering you can file a 30-day extension to any non-expired entry stamp at immigration, the actual correct answer is if optimally used they can be in Thailand for up to 9 months on this visa.

60 days , plus a potential 30 day extension .
Scott **************
Multi entry means unlimited use for 6 months, but you can stay for up to 90 days after your last entry if you file an extension at immigration.
If it's METV (and I think it is), you can stay up to 9 months. Actually, you can stay up to 90 days after September 6 2024. If you stamp in September 5, your stamp will be good for 60 days. You can extend that stamp an additional 30 days. You are free to stamp in/out all you want up to September 5 (or maybe September 6 if you want to take some risk).
Even if you still have a couple of weeks on your current stamp, do a border bounce just before the expiry date of the 6th of September, that will get you the maximum time on that visa, depending on when you first enter Thailand you can usually get between 8 and 9 months out of an METV.
Nongnuch ********
WHY do stoopid people who have absolutely no clue how a multi entry tourist visa works, need to comment absolute crap?
what is printed is not the full story though. As you'll see on other replies, the maximum you can stay, if used to its full potential, is 270 days. So anyone saying "can't you read" or "it says it right there" or "60days" or "90days" are very wrong, and lacking in experience of maximising visas. If you haven't had this visa for the purpose of the maximum stay possible, or spent a year or two juggling visas when staying in Thailand, or read every post on this group for a year or two, you are not really qualified to answer. Just reading the visa gives a very partial answer, and if the OPs aim is the maximum possible stay, then 60 or 90 days is infact wrong. So we'll done for reading English and repeating it. Read other replies and you too can learn how to get the 270 days, and give more accurate answers. 👍

I have been in Thailand for many years, and my qualifications regarding visas is way beyond yours, your condescending guesswork is is laughably wrong. I wont bother with this petty forum again.
Dan ******
Inane, childish, and insulting response, the question was how long on that visa, no mention of extensions, border hopping or other ways to remain in SEA for long term. You can't "maximise a visa", a single entry visa no longer exists after one entry. What happens in country is a separate matter.
I never said it was unclear I just gave my experience and my situation that's all. Nothing more nothing less

Asking questions about a matter that is very obvious indicates a lack of clarity without it having to be stated.

maybe you shouldn't be allowed out without your parents, and definitely shouldn't be giving incorrect answers on fb. Its 270 days, to those in the know.

Considering that he was smart enough to ask a good question and learn that the correct answer is actually 9 months if optimal utilized... He very much should be allowed to be out without his parents.
yes I see but at the airport they just gave me 30 days. I'll have immigration do the extension to 90. I suppose it all depends on the official. Nothing is ever "official" in thailand. Can change day to day lol 😆
I don't think you can just get the extension to 90 days. You've entered on a 30day visa exemption, NOT your tourist visa. Did you show them your visa print out ? If you don't make them aware, they just give you 30 days visa exemption. You have to exit, and re-enter, making sure you tell them you have a tourist visa. And check the date stamp there and then, and get it amended there and then. I've heard of this situation a few times before.
sorry not true been a resident for over 5 years. I don't have a visa as just reenentered the country after travelling in europe. have 30 days but my friend at immigration will get me 90 days then I'll be back on 1 year non "o" . Sorry but your are wrong
have you done this before? Got 30 days instead of 90 and got it amended? A non 'o' is for 90 days - if you got 30days, then you are on visa exempt entry.
sorry maybe not clear. I was travelling in Europe seeing friends family skiing holiday I Crans Montana. I came vack after my visa expired in February. So at the airport I got my 30 days. I have my visa guy extending it to 90 to give him time to organize my 1 year. I've been a resident here for 5 years now. But had to visit my mum my family and friends.
the post is about multiple entry TOURIST visa, not 'Non "o"'. As you dont state you have a non "o", My reply to you was on the assumption you had the same visa as on the post, as you compare your entry with the OP ? Why would you compare and quote your experience of entries and visa lengths of DIFFERENT visa ??? Although I have 'read' this is also the case with long term visas. And people have had to exit and re-enter to get the right visa. I may well be wrong about your non "o" visa, but I'm right about the OPs visa/situation.
more rubbish info from you . . . there is no "exit date" stamped in the passport. He gets stamped a 60 days stay permit upon entry. The date in blue ink tells him the expiry date of the stay permit. He is free to exit at any other date before the expiry date. AGAIN, you info is BS, your wording is wrong. THIS stamp is what he will get
Of course, there are other clues like the date stamp (which I always check very carefully).

Hi Mike, How so? Visa extension’s straight forward procedure. Rock up to an immigration office nearest you with approx 1800thb and extend a further 30 days. Not sure what you mean @caught out?” At that point immigration will stamp the passport with your exit day. Have I missed something? Mind you the last time I did this the Officer asked for a 500 baht donation to a local School. I obliged of course.
Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. You mentioned “two months” (though your 90 days was correct). If the poster waits two months to seek an extension, he’ll already be over-staying. Converting
*****
/90 days to
***
/3 months catches people out. 30 days is not 1 month. I am aware of many people over-staying by one or two days, based on this false rule-of-thumb. This poster’s visa clearly states 60 days.
Immigration counts in days, not in months. Follow the logic, because some months are 31 days and other months are 30 days and February can be 28 days or 29 days
if he uses his visa correctly, he can stay up to almost 9 months - 270 days! - in Thailand. He needs to do a border run WITHIN THE VISA VALIDITY - before 60 or respectively the 90 days are over, and by re-entering will receive 60 days stay permit, again
Your wires are crossed! You are confusing the visa validity with the duration of the stay permit. Go read again how to use a multi entry tourist visa correctly!
with just a same-day border bounce/run, to allow a continued stay in Thailand. Its hardly 'leaving the country' is it ? The OP is clearly looking to stay the maximum possible, hence the question to more experienced folk. I'm sure he can read the "60 days" text.
and if you exit and re-enter on the last day of the visa validity (which is on Sep 6) you will receive a 60 days stay permit for the last time. And then extend these 60 days with 30 more days. That's how to get almost 9 months stay permit out of this multi entry tourist visa
"after 90 days" he will be in overstay. He must do the border bounce BEFORE the 90 days are over. And you are WRONG in your assumption of 150 days stay permit. This visa, if used the correct way, will allow him almost 9 months of stay permit. Almost 270 days
You can stay in Thailand for 60 days. You must enter Thailand by the 6th September 2024. The date you enter and your 60 days will start. You can also apply when you are in Thailand for another 30 days extension if you want.

Ja dat klopt maar dat was de vraag niet. De vraag was hoelang kan ik met dit visum in Thailand blijven. En op het visum staat……. 😬
Perhaps I should of asked, how long can I stay in total with this visa ,yes I can read and it clearly states 60 days but that is not the true story for this visa, thank you for you answer
en dat is nog niet eens het halve verhaal. Je weet toch ook wel dat het niet alleen verlengbaar is, maar dat je er goed getimed zelfs tot bijna 9 maanden uit kunt krijgen?
It also says you have multiple entries and on top of that a tourist visa can be extended for 30 more days. The last day of entry must be before 6 sept.

It's a tourist visa. Each time you enter Thailand through September 6th you will receive a 60 day stamp, and you can apply for a 30 day extension.
You can do this as much as you want until September 6th.
no not like that, this visa is valid until 6th September, so you can enter when ever you want from the date of grant till 6th of September. Once the visa expires on the 6th of September you no longer have the right to enter thailand.
And when you enter thailand between the date of grant and expiration, they give a stamp of 60days stay, you can extend it to another 30 days on the second month, it takes a day to extend it at the immigration office.
So you have total of 90 days stay in Thailand, once that done you have to leave the country in 90days.
If you wish to stay longer, you can go to one of the neighboring countries, and apply for another tourist visa and the thai embassy, it can take couple of days to a month depending on your passport to grant your tourist visa for the second time.
note: you can’t do this as many times as want especially with short periods between multiple entries, if you’re lucky you have the chance to do it up to 5-6 times until they give you a remark or possibly not let you in the country.
I don't think you can extend 30 days each time, I believe it is only once for the visa and not on each entry. I could be wrong but that is how I understand it.
on each entry you do have the right to extend the visa to another 30 days. You would have limited entries though, how much visa run you can do would depends on your passport
you must not have noticed that the OP posted a multiple entry tourist visa, which means it can be repeatedly used as many times as he wants up until the September expiration date to enter for 60 days each time.
if I’m not mistaken, multiple entries are allowed within the duration of stay, so he can go out to other countries and come back once he get the visa stamp on passports.
On single entry, you’re not allowed to go out and come back during the stay’s duration
maybe it was just the wording of your comment that made it sound like you didn't realise it was a multiple entry visa, so he can use it repeatedly, not just once, to enter before the September expiration date.
