TLDR : Answer Summary
A multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) allows you to enter and exit Thailand multiple times within a 6-month validity period. Each stay can be up to 60 days, and you can obtain a 30-day extension for a fee at an immigration office. By carefully timing your entries and exits, it is possible to extend your stay close to 9 months total.

I believe you are not understanding how the visa works

IF you look at that METV <- Multi Entry Tourist Visa you'd see that it is valid for 6 months from the date it's issued.

That means you can exit/re-enter all you want for SIX months and each time you do you will get stamped in for 60 days

You can also take one 30 day extension at the immigration office for 1900baht per entry..

AND

if you time your exit/entry just right (as in exit/re-enter the country just before the VISA itself expires) you'll get a final 60 day entry (taking you to close to 8 months stay) and then you can extend that one time for 30 days giving you just about 9 months of stay in the country.

hi Tod to be honest I was asking this question for my brothers visa .

Myself I have a non immigration o visa but I get 90days instead of the 60days bit of a pain really as we are travelling together this time.but interesting about the 30day extension at the immigration office now dose the same apply for the non immigration o visa 30days .?.

Basically I think my brother can go to immigration office get the 30days and then we both leave for Cambodia just before my 90days is up I think that works best ..probably staying
***
months.

Thanks again

there is no 30 days extension for non-immigrant visa entry. Only 1-year extension.
