Is the 6-month multiple entry tourist visa essentially a double-entry 60-day visa that can be extended in Thailand?

Kinda simple question. Just need some confirmation. On the 6 mth visa you get from your home country. It is basically a double entry 60 day tourist visa that you can extend each time.. right? Also. Was going to stay 3 months and then travel for a bit and come back later to do the other 3 months. Is this plausible? Can you exit for any amount of time and come back using the second entry? Thks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) allows for unlimited entries into Thailand within its 6-month validity, with each entry granting a 60-day stay, which can be extended by an additional 30 days. Users can leave and return to Thailand as many times as they want during this period, and it is possible to achieve nearly 9 months of stay by strategically reentering before the visa's expiration date.

Yes, you can almost get 9months. I have done this in 2013.

@Tet ****
Triple and double entries yes, but the METV replaced these in 2015. So you didnt have a METV in 2013
Tet *****
Lol. I got it from Thai consulate in Hull, UK. Very possible. They even have triple entries before. Please double check if you think it's impossible. I can even attached my old visas and stamps if you want.
Steve *******
Impossible, the visa wasnt introduced untill november 2015

If timed correctly you can actually get almost 9, yes 9 months out of this visa.

Bc its multiple entry and you just reenter right before the 6 months is up? ..then extend ?
Steve *******
The visa is valid for 6 months from the day it was issued. It gives you unlimited entries during its validity, each entry giving you a 60 day stay in the country.

I think you can get only one 30 day extension per visa, not one per stamp

Thanks so much

That is correct.

Yes

So after 60 days you can get 30 day extension, then go out and in, get another 60 day stamp and you can extend again by 30 days? Is this correct?
Lloyd ********
Incorrect, as said, an extension per entry, not per visa
Robert *******
If you have a multiple entry visa you can apply after each entry for an Extension.
Lloyd ********
It is the date on the VISA that is very important
Lloyd ********
The multi entry has a validity of 6 months, each entry is 60 days and can be extended by 30. As long as you enter before the valid until/use before date, you will be stamped in for 60 days
Robert *******
I guess you mean the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa. You can with this visa leave and come back into Thailand as many times as you which during the 6 months validity of this Visa. The validity date is on the Visa Sticker under the text Enter Before or Valid Until. Each entry you will get 60 days permitted to stay.
