I'm 74, USA passport. Want to stay 7 months starting next October. If I get a Multiple Entry Tourist visa at Chicago Thai Consulate a few weeks before departure, can it work? Enter for 60 days, in and out near Mae Sai for another 60 days. Then again for another 45 days or so. Then in and out again before visa eligibility's 6 months run out for another 60 days. Does that work?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, with a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), you can effectively extend your stay in Thailand for nearly nine months. Initially, you will receive a 60-day entry, and by exiting and re-entering the country at specific intervals, you can obtain new 60-day entries multiple times. Additionally, you can extend your final 60-day stay by 30 days, allowing a total stay of around nine months.

Totally will work fine,

you can get almost NINE months of stay out of a 6 month METV

Enter get 60 days

When that is running out bounce out&back to get a new 60 days

When that is running out bounce out&back to get a new 60 days

When the VISA is running out bounce out&back to get a new 60 days

(that takes you to almost EIGHT months) then extend that last 60 day entry by 30 days taking you to nine months of stay
