I am assuming so, my first year is may 2023. Guessing Bangkok Insurance will contact me. Saying that there is nothing on the visa stuck in my passport but it could show on immigration computers. I will renew each year I have no issue with that just happy to leave my money in Australia bank

lol not this time it was Malaysia Airlines they left Perth late so I missed the connection flight and had to sit in the very boring KL airport for 6.5 hours

you can do it with one year I did with Bangkok insurance. I did mine in Sydney

To answer entering visa exempt, NO insurance is not compulsory anymore but travel insurance is certainly recommended

Go back to Australia apply in Sydney for OX visa 5 years multiple entry's and leave your money in Australia banks cost $600aud for 5 years
