Get an education visa(if you can)to carry you through until you turn 50,then convert to a retirement, getting an elite makes no sense.

Also learning a little Thai is very useful

I would hang on until 28th or so if you can as there may be another amnesty and if there is it saves you 1900 thb and a lot of messing
