Hi, my daughter is coming the thailand on a one way ticket because she is going to travel Asia but not sure whether she’s going to Malaysia or Goa depending on when her friends are there. My partner and I came on one way tickets as we’ve moved here and had no problem but I know they’re getting more strict and wondered if she will get asked to show a ticket out of thailand or questioned at immigration now? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns whether the user's daughter, arriving in Thailand on a one-way ticket for travel in Asia, will be questioned about an onward ticket at immigration. Comments suggest that immigration officials rarely ask for proof of onward travel; instead, it is often the airline that may require this before boarding. Several users shared personal experiences indicating they were not asked for anything upon arrival, pointing out that the focus on onward tickets may depend more on airline policies and the traveler's nationality.

Depending what country you are from and if they are entering on visa exempt, I wouldn’t worry about it much

I arrived on the 8th and wasn't asked, it seems to be an airline check more than immigration.

She could also get a onward ticket. I used it (but I wasn’t asked from the airline or the immigration)

Immigration rarely asks (though they can). The people who usually ask would be the airline for the flight to Thailand. They may require proof of a ticket out of Thailand before they will let her board her flight. If they require this then she will either need to show a ticket out of Thailand or buy one on the spot before they let her board.

She should contact her airline and ask them what their policy is for tourist travel to Thailand.
