We had the same issue and appealed against it and they allowed us to keep the account (BOS). We demonstrated that we were using the account although we were resident abroad.

ah ok. Our issue was to get the visa here (we are uk nationals living in Dubai) it says we must have a 12 month hotel booking it own a property in Thailand. Is an alternative a rental co tract and does it need to be for 12 months? We had hoped to arrive and after temporary accommodation find a long term rental. Trying to avoid refusal at the embassy here if we do not have the 12 month in place.
