Hi Tod, sorry to piggy back on to Tom's post but hope you can help me.

I have an OA visa which is valid till 13 March 2026 but my insurance & my entry stamp only give me till 20 November 2025. I am exiting the country for a few weeks in November, will renew my insurance, and come back in to Thailand on 23 November 2025. I understand that this will give me another year based on the expiry of my insurance, so in effect, till November 2026. If I want to leave the country again in April 2026 for a few weeks, I believe I will need to get a re-entry permit, but will I be stamped back in till the end of my insurance (November 2026), or how will it work based on that my "visa" only gives me to March 2026? I am a little confused and would appreciate your advice, thanks.

That's exactly what I did - I had new insurance, but was 3 days past my "visa" expiry coming back in, so only got stamped in for 60 days. Got extension for 30, then flew back to Oz to re-apply for the visa all over again. I did need to go back, but the timing was a bit off for me and I will certainly not make that mistake again.

I did my first 90 day report recently at Patong immigration office. I took my address registration paperwork just in case but all they wanted was my passport. What I didn't realise, is that you just go to the side door and give your passport, then wait while they check and stamp it for you, then they bring it back outside to you. So, you don't need to go in the front door. I arrived around 1pm and was probably there no longer than 10 minutes. Before you leave, just double check your passport has the paperwork attached for when your next report is due.

I haven't been a member of the group for very long but have found that any comments I have seen, you have been a great source of knowledge and very helpful to everyone who has posted a question.

Make sure you check the exit date stamp in the passport because September 1st would be "day one" so the 30 days will expire on 30 September and you need to apply for the extension before the 30 days expires. I did my extension when I had a week to go till the expiry.
