Re: non O: just coming as a tourist, now that the 60 day visa exempt plan may revert back to 30 days, is this the best visa for coming to Thailand without trying to extend for a year?

I used this method when one could use an affidavit for proof of income before COVID (US citizen).

I have the annual income and an active BKK Bank account for over a decade but don’t want to transfer my monthly Social Security to Thailand as I don’t plan to live year-round but visit for 6 months or so as a base, traveling in and out.

I am in my home country (US) currently and would not be coming to Thailand until September or October. I left in CM in December.

In 2005 I maxed out the 6 months allowed including one extension, using the Visa exempt option.

I was in and out as a base but spent months in Malaysia, Taiwan and Europe between visits. Would like to continue this option.

Thanks for your input as I see many informative posts that update my general knowledge of the changes that frequently occur.

Currently I was in KL filling out TDAC first time: NO RED ASTERISK BY THE ONWARD TICKET FIELD. Verified by travel agent I use in CM: “not required.“

At some point in the future this may be activated, but now for use with exit flight info; if available. TDAC has a “revise form” option if flight data changes. They do match real tickets info.

I have had a Bangkok Bank acct since 2017 and send money to cover my rent and electricity for a studio I rent by the year but only come to CM as a tourist now.

Does this affect me if you know? I am not in Thailand now but will be visiting soon.

Thanks if you can advise me.

I have never needed one from Thailand coming or going, but in Singapore two years ago, I was forced to buy a return ticket to Singapore. The attendant at the airport claimed that was a rule.

I chose a cheap SCOOT ticket and after landing in Thailand canceled that return ticket.

No problem.
