Merchant name means a shop name, if that was your online business act ?

Some times the act may keep as dormant ? You need to re-submit all your documents to them make it alive.

no no, if goes through thai limited company formation it could be likely within 150 to 170k enough.

Yes you can do that easy way:

Register a company with dbd & vat entitlement.

Registered capital min 2 mil thb to cover your own sponsored work permit.

You will need to hire 4 thai staffs to get one work permit.

First you can enter into Thailand with a tourist Visa, after u register your own company, your company documents will sponsor you to get non immigrant b Visa which will allow you to apply for work permit.
