Success! I had to fill in a "Transfer Stamp To New Passport" form and provide copies of my old and new passports, a copy of my TM Card, a copy of the original retirement visa and the last extension to it, and a copy of my last arrival stamp. The Australian embassy stamped my old passport, saying that "Any valid in this passport remains valid." I only had to show my updated bankbook.
I reported online on December the 15th, for one due on the 16th. In the past, approval took at most a day. However, this time it was still pending at 10:00 am today, so I went to MTT to report. When I arrived home, I discovered a 10:24 am approval email. It's taking longer now, but in my case, it still happened.
False alarm. We did the one for January but not for a domestic trip. It isn't required now anyway. Sorry for the mistake. Thank you as always for your sound advice.
